From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello, I created this page and urge the administrators to keep it for the following reasons.

  • I am not associated with the organization and this is not a self-advertisement.
  • Animal People is an international animal rights organization, similar to other organizations with Wikipedia pages (PETA, Best Friends, Animals Asia Foundation, etc) with an international reach.
  • Animal People has high name recognition internationally among the animal rights and animal welfare community (Just taking the information provided by Merritt Clifton, editor of the influential publication Animal People, in his analysis... from this New Zealand source)
  • Pages from equivalent organizations include unverified statements. Note, for example, the 2nd pagagraph of the PETA page.
  • Animal People is the subject of widespread news accounts; there are at least 258 mentions of the editors' work archived at NewsLibrary.com. A google search for the name of the editor (Merritt Clifton) on the google INDIA site returns nearly two and a half million hits.
  • The editor's involvment in the recent controversy controversy in Bangalore is indicative of Animal People's long-standing international involvement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Woodlandpath (talkcontribs) 17:20, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Animal People research is widely quoted and widely influential.
  • Wikipedia needs this page to be inclusive, non-biased, and authoritative.

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted because... (your reason here) --Truthhunt007 (talk) 17:13, 14 August 2011 (UTC) This page does not promote the publication Animal People, it documents its history and the role it has played in the animal welfare movement domestically and internationally. Scores of other animal welfare groups, such as the ASPCA and HSUS, also have Wikipedia pages that offer a similar format. That data gathered by Animal People -- rabies, sheltering statistics and much more -- is widely distributed and greatly depended upon by animal welfare groups of all sizes.[reply]
