Portland, Oregon, USA based performance poet, Anis Mojgani won the fist ever World Cup Poetry Slam Championship, held in Bobigny, France as part of the French National Slam Championships this past weekend. 16 National Poetry Slam Champions gathered for a 3 day competition to see who would be crowned champion of the Grand Slam Poesie: Coupe du Monde. The international portion of the event ran from Wednesday June 26th-Friday June 29th. 1

After a series of intense and close matched qualifying and playoff rounds the final four who performed on Friday night were: Anis Mojgani from Seattle/Portland, USA finishing 1st, RC Weslowski from Vancouver, Canada 2nd Chririkure Chirikure from Harare, Zimbabwe 3rd and Bodan Piasecki from Varsovie, Poland finishing 4th.
