Career Before her election as an MEP, Anneliese was a Senior Lecturer in Public Policy at Aston University. ^[1], choosing this institution primarily because of its record on promoting access for local Black and Minority ethnic and working class students.^[2] Previous to this, Anneliese was Acting Director of the National Institute for Health Research Patient Safety and Service Quality Research Centre at King's College, London, and before that, an Economic and Social Research Council postgraduate fellow at the London School of Economics. Anneliese's research focused on what Britain can learn from other European countries to improve the safety and quality of health care, to combat social exclusion, and to make regulation more effective. She is the author of over twenty peer-reviewed articles and books.^[3]

Anneliese also served as the Chair of a debt and welfare advice centre based on the housing estate where she lives (Rose Hill in Oxford).

Politics

Member of the European Parliament

On entering the European Parliament in 2014, Anneliese was appointed a full member of the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, responsible for a wide range of policy areas including regulation of financial services, taxation and competition policies, and Economic and monetary Union (EMU).^[4]

She is also a member of the European Parliament's Special Committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Effect (TAXE) special committee, which was established in February 2015 following the [[1]] revelations of late 2014. The TAXE Committee aims to improve transparency and cooperation between Member States in the field of tax rulings.^[5]

Anneliese has been appointed as co-lead (co-rapporteur) on the report "Bringing transparency, coordination and convergence to Corporate Tax policies in the Union". The report is the European Parliament's legislative response to the Luxleaks scandal.

In her role as Chair of European Parliament's Delegation to the EU-Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee, she especially focuses her work on the area of promotion of human rights, equality and rule of law.^[6] She is a Substitute to the Committee on Regional Development and the Delegation to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Joint Parliamentary Committee.

Anneliese is also a member of the Working Group on Anti-Semitism, a cross-party coalition of MEPs dedicated to fighting anti-Semitism and all forms of intolerance ^[7] and also a member of the Working Group on sexual and reproductive health and rights.^[8]

I would be most grateful if someone could edit Anneliese's Wikipedia site because it currently is very short and incomplete.

This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. Some or all of the changes may be promotional in tone.

In accordance with Wikipedia transparency guide lines I have not edited Anneliese's wiki page myself because I work with her. I have included external sources for the information provided above.

please do not suggest any content that does not have a source. the sources you use should all be independent of her.
please remove colorful adjectives (which we call "puffery" like: "appointed a full member of the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, responsible for a wide range of policy areas. Wikipedia articles are just... plain.

Position on Brexit[edit]

Does her position on Brexit belong in the lead, as advocated by Foxotic1, or should it just be in the main article, as advocated by Alex B4. I prefer to leave it out, but I don't have strong opinions on this. Jonathan A Jones (talk) 14:49, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have been advocating this to be in the lead as it neatly follows on from the segment about her being an MEP in the European Parliament, it’s also a key political stance which I believe should therefore be at the forefront of the bio. Foxotic1 (talk) 21:53, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Referenced material that is not in the main text should not be included in the lead. I removed it the first time to move the content into past tense (since the source is from a year ago) and moved it to the main text. The second time was because is not standard form to include specific political positions in the forefront of the lead. For example, Tony Blair's support for the Iraq War was a prominent part of his premiership but it is therefore included in the lead but it is not at a forefront. A reasonable compromise would be to include it in the lead but not the forefront, which I will do, but in past tense to reflect the source. Alex (talk) 23:23, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
