Labradorescence[edit]

About "Labradorescence": I think the correct term is "iridescense". Some people use "labradorescense" but I think that is incorrect as it mixes a mineral name with an optical property (imagine calling cochoidal fractures "quartzchiodal" because they happen in quartz, for example)

Alumina[edit]

Hi, I would like to know where the anorthosite is being mined for alumina? Anybody know this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.225.176.130 (talk) 14:41, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jargon[edit]

This article reads like a bunch of geology mumbo jumbo, even for a physicist. - Anders E. Andersen —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.150.153.224 (talk) 19:38, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See also section[edit]

I'm not sure why the see also section has as its members ultramafic and layered mafic intrusions. Given that anorthosite is a felsic rock, I wouldn't expect to see mafics as related terms. I could see them as related terms to an article on felsic minerals as a whole as the opposite would be informational, but as a see also to a specific felsic mineral it seems out of place. aremisasling (talk) 15:33, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to the ultramafic to mafic layered intrusions article, anorthosites are often associated with layered intrusions, such as the Bushveld igneous complex. The article should be updated to include this type of occurrence, even if it's volumetrically insignificant compared to the Proterozoic massif-type anorthosites. I might have some info on the Duluth Complex, where this occurs. I will root around for it. Awickert (talk) 18:25, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I made a very quick blurb with references. Awickert (talk) 22:36, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
