Comments[edit]

I didn't think Antenor criticizes Helen's opinion of Odysseus. In my version of the text (a Fagles translation), Antenor seems to agree with her, saying that Odysseus is intimidating, with words like a "driving winter blizzard." Antenor as diplomat[edit]

Antenor was a diplomat who tried to defuse tensions which led to abduction of Helen. Lamedon (father of Priam and Esione) mistreated the Argonauts. Their revenge was to kidnap Esione and sack Troy. King Priam sent Antenor to Greece in an attempt to get his sister back. He was repulsed which severely increased tension between Greece and Troy.^[1]Rdmoore6 (talk) 18:54, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The story of Antenor's betrayal of Troy to the Greeks, and their sparing of him, is highly similar to the story of Rachab of Jericho in the Old Testament.
