Proposed background addition for Personal Life section:
[edit]According to Florida's statutory rape law, it is a second degree felony when a person 18 years of age or older engages in sexual activity with a person between the ages of 12-16 years old. CITE: https://oilcity.news/wyoming/politics/2021/05/21/wyoming-punishes-statutory-rape-with-up-to-20-years-in-prison-florida-up-to-15-years/
- Providing this unnecessary legal analysis is WP:UNDUE and WP:COMMENTARY. Read WP:BLPCRIME. KidAd • SPEAK 22:55, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- That’s the current law. Per NY Times, it’s unclear whether the relationship would have been lawful at the time. Bouchard says it was over 40 years ago, though my rough calculations say it was more like 37. In any case, this is all original research, not to mention potentially defamatory so we should avoid making any speculation. Ytoyoda (talk) 23:36, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Son's birth date
[edit]The dating of Bouchard's teenage relationship is vague. Should the birth date of his son be included? The Casper Star-Tribune references[1] a California county sheriff's inmate listing which gives the birth date as 08/26/1984.[2]

- @Pemilligan: My interpretation of WP:OR and WP:BLPNAME tells me we shouldn’t reveal biographical details of family members, especially if it requires us to use a primary source. I may feel differently if a source other than the Daily Mail had chosen to specify the son’s age or birthdate, but as far as I can tell, American media outlets have chosen not too. Though the Casper Star Tribune article you linked to mentions the early 1980s, so perhaps we can include that in the section somewhere? Ytoyoda (talk) 01:02, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

Spouse(s) ADD Frances Lynn (Webb) (1st wife)
Add to personal life: Bouchard and Frances Lynn Webb had a son,Tony Raymond Bouchard born on May 26, 1984. Three months after their son was born, Bouchard and Webb were married on September 1984 when they were 19 and 15 years old, respectively.

"personal life"
[edit]I recently edited the "personal life" section to add reactions from Liz Cheney and an advocacy group, but the KidAd reverted the edit as WP:UNDUE, which is fair enough. But I do wonder if this story isn't worth expanding, since it has become international news (albeit via the Daily Mail) and it is almost the only reason his name has appeared in the national press.
- I don't think it's a "personal life" story. It's a campaign story. If Bouchard was merely a local politician and not vying for a seat in Congress, then it wouldn't be news. It's news because it's a campaign story. It should be a subsection under the 2022 campaign section.
- I think the reaction from the Wyoming Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault is worth including because the "Romeo and Juliet" characterization of the relationship is the 800-pound gorilla that helped make this national news.
- There's reasonable argument to be made whether further expansion of the section is WP:UNDUE, but if it does lead to censure or dropping out of the race, then it certainly warrants a longer section and a title other than 'personal life'. Ytoyoda (talk) 18:00, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
