We do not need to put "Tony" in the lead of name[edit]

We do not need to put Tony in the lead of the name. The article itself maybe should be renamed to Tony Diamond, but either way we should just have Anthony Joseph Dimond in the lead. This is exactly what the Wikipedia Manual of Style tells us to do. The example they give is that will the article on Bill Gates it opens by saying "William Henry Gates III" and proceeds from there. It clearly says do not put "Bill" there in the opening. It says this applies to all very common nicknames. So Bill for Williams, Bob for Robert, Tony for Anthony and many more. Tony is a super, super common nickname for Anthony and we have no reason to explain that he was sometimes, or almost in all cases called Tony, in the giving of his full name. We only have to an uncommon nickname, so if he was called Ant, or Chad, or Skip, or Chip, or even one that is common but makes no connection to his name like Jack, Bob or Bill, we would include it, but you do not need to include Tony for Anthony, Matt for Matthew, Mike for Michael or any other super common pairing. As I said, this article maybe should be renamed to Tony Dimond per the common name guidelines, but that is totally sperate from how we should word the giving of his full name, which should not have "Tony" at all.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:24, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
