Chargers[edit]

@Eagles247: My reasoning behind that is we don’t mention when a regular season contract expires, why should it be done with a practice squad contract? I feel like the only time something like that should be specifically mentioned if they were cut or traded.--Rockchalk717 20:44, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Rockchalk717: I've always found it odd that practice squad and regular roster contract expirations are never mentioned in NFL articles. I think it's primarily because when free agency hits it's always a madhouse of edits and no one feels like updating individual sections to say their contract has expired. For practice squad contracts, readers may assume that they expire in March just like the rest of the regular contracts and in this article it may seem weird that Lanier was able to sign with another team in January. They might question "Was he cut from the Chargers' practice squad and that was not listed here? Was he traded?" The expiration of practice squad contracts is something that hasn't been discussed in the media until recently, and since the statement is sourced and provides a definitive conclusion to Lanier's tenure with the Chargers I believe it's notable enough to warrant inclusion here. In all of the GAs I've written, I've made sure to include the concluding transaction like contract expirations in the tenures of each players' teams. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:52, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
