Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because... (this is a perfectly valid article on a very notable topic that is well covered. The article is very much referenced and more references can be added if and when the article is expanded.
Mask refusal is very much a thing and is not like other articles I found. It is a phenomenon seen in many viral videos and often reported in the news. It happens a lot in stores and airplanes.
Makes more sense to discuss this as afd or possible merge if you feel this way.) --PatriceMO1 (talk) 02:44, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
- PatriceMO1, please could you work on the referencing of the article. Currently the only referenced sentences relate to a 1918 organisation and three individual incidents. TSventon (talk) 22:55, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
- It takes time to build an article. And I don’t get to spend much time on Wikipedia because I am busy with work and family most of the time. I was hoping others would help build this article too after I got it started. But this is definitely a thing and there is a lot to contribute to it. PatriceMO1 (talk) 14:12, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- I completely agree that this topic needs an article on Wikipedia. I've added some information from sources: I'll admit I'm no expert, and I've skim-read some of them, or just read the abstracts, so if anyone else has the time to read through them (most are open access) and add some more detailed information, please go ahead! -- Bangalamania (talk) 14:43, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

Adding a file depicting the subject
[edit]If someone can find a picture of either an argument between a customer and employee over the requirement to wear a mask and/or a protest against masks, that could improve this article. PatriceMO1 (talk) 22:21, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
Move to Anti-mask / Anti-maskers / Anti-mask sentiment
[edit]I believe this article should include the term Anti-mask as it is more descriptive and common. I suggest a move to Anti-mask or Anti-maskers or Anti-mask sentiment. Any thoughts? --Wil540 art (talk) 19:19, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

Requested move 16 February 2022
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved to Anti-mask sentiment as proposed. There's unanimous consensus that the article needs to move somewhere, but we have a number of suggested alternatives. "Anti-mask sentiment" seems to have the most support at the moment, and it appears to be acceptable in terms of our policies and guidelines (e.g. Red Slash's appeal to WP:CONSISTENT). Since there's no firm consensus here, feel free to start another RM if any additional ideas come to mind. See WP:OTHEROPTIONS and WP:BARTENDER. Mask refusal → Anti-mask sentiment – This has been raised on the talk page, and I agree that this is probably a more accurate page title. -- AFreshStart (talk) 00:58, 16 February 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. ---CX Zoom(he/him) (let's talk|contribs) 05:47, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- I agree that "anti-mask something" would be a good title, but "sentiment" doesn't seem right. There's a big difference between finding masks annoying and
refus[ing] to comply with a requirement to wear a face covering
, and "anti-mask sentiment" sounds like the former. Egsan Bacon (talk) 03:00, 16 February 2022 (UTC)- Fair enough; would anti-mask movement (or simply anti-mask) be a better title? —AFreshStart (talk) 11:59, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- I’ve heard about anti-maskers but I can’t think of a phrase to describe the sentiment/movement that sounds particularly salient to me. I agree that mask refusal should be changed though. --awkwafaba (📥) 13:36, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- I'm with Egsan Bacon on this it should be 'Anti mask something'—blindlynx 15:03, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- Fair enough; would anti-mask movement (or simply anti-mask) be a better title? —AFreshStart (talk) 11:59, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- Move to Anti-masker. It's the most common term for a person who refused to wear a mask. Rreagan007 (talk) 02:20, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- Easy support - this is pretty WP:CONSISTENT with a lot of other article titles, like Anti-French sentiment Red Slash 21:12, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Red Slash: Are you supporting Anti-Masker or Anti-mask sentiment??? Mike Cline (talk) 13:39, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- Support Both the proposal and all of the alternatives that have been suggested here make sense to me -- I don't have any strong preference among them, but they all reflect common usage better than the current title.--Yaksar (let's chat) 16:45, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- Support It's both consistent and a clinical way to describe what is, really, a sentiment. TangoFett (talk) 06:06, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
