Consecrated wafers Sardinia:

[edit]

Some years ago I attended a service in Sardinia in the Spring in which unconsecrated hosts were blessed an then distributed after the service outside the church to the women who attended the service (only women attended). The women grabbed handfuls of the wafers, which were strewn with rose petals. I was told they were to be broken up in the fields to bless the land as the spring crops were being planted. Perhaps this is another example of the distribution of blessed bread in the Roman church. I have no more information than this personal story.
