Comments re Wikify

[edit]
Notes re the Wikify comments:
  • The article has 16 internal wiki links in five paragraphs! 21 more wiki links were added today (6 Feb 2011) for a total of 37
  • It also has 16 references.
  • I can find four sites that link to the page from other Wikipedia pages.
  • Two external links (more can be added, but typically two or three are sufficient), and
  • Four excellent relevant categories.
  • I have rearranged the paragraphs for a more even and chronological flow with new headers in some cases.
I welcome your feedback.
I also respectfully request that the Wikify tag now be removed. AustexTalk 17:10, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Info box added (to be completed later)

Help Requested on Info Box

[edit]

I've been working on this for hours now and some expert (or otherwise) help and advice would be greatly appeciated. I moved several of the categories down to below the reflist figuring they might not be appropriate and are causing the problem. But I still do not get the other categories to appear. Thoughts? Instructions? . AustexTalk 19:35, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Assistance

[edit]
  • The tag was probably generated automatically. It's not just the inline citations that generated that, I think.
  • Lack of external links would not generate the tag.
  • You need a lead paragraph before the History section
  • An infobox is a programmed template. You can leave parts blank, or delete parts you don't want. But moving parts elsewhere does not work at all. Infobox information needs to stay within the infobox. Also, sticking in things that weren't there in the first place, doesn't work.
  • Never list telephone numbers, or email addresses.
  • Under "What Links Here", you have three good links that will keep this article from being an "orphan", so that's not why it got tagged.
  • Also "What Links Here", one of your user space pages is coded as a Redirect page to go to this article. That's just a user page. While there's nothing wrong with a user page linking to an article, it probably should not be as a Redirect. You can take the "redirect#" off it, and leave the link.
  • Play around with the toolbar at the top of your editing box. If you don't see one, go into your Preferences, Editing tab, click the box that says "Show edit toolbar". It will save you a lot of frustration to use the toolbar.
  • I moved the Chainsaw Massacre house to the right, because of the white space. All those manual breaks you inserted may have also been a factor in the tag.
  • Eyeball this thing for any errors you might have missed, or any large sections that don't have inline citations.
  • All location articles need coordinates. I got these Here. As long as you have an address, this web site will give you coordinates.

Thank you. All of it was useful and helpful information for this and other pages. Is there a roughly generic infobox that I can use for articles? AustexTalk 21:23, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There are oodles of infobox templates out there, each one programmed for uniformity on a specific category. These easiest thing for you to do in the future, is if you have an article you want to create, go to a similar article that already exists. Copy and paste its infobox to your page, and then change the specific input to fit your own subject. Maile66 (talk) 22:02, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest?

[edit]

{{Request edit}} Regarding the last paragraph in this article (re the Chainsaw House), on the off chance that this is a conflict of interest, I want to make editors aware that I was a partner in the La Frontera project on which this house was located and from which it was moved. AustexTalk 03:26, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thanks for letting us know. If you'd like more help, let me know on my talk page or put a {{help me}} template up on your user talk page or something. :) Banaticus (talk) 10:10, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
