To establish Antonina Houbraken's notability as an artist, the article should describe her other than as a daughter, a wife, and an assistant. For instance, are her works in any public collections? Did she make significant contributions to notable works? Is her work recognized by experts? etc. – Editør (talk) 13:00, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The sources ULAN and RKD both do this, and I said so in my edit summary. Yes her works are in public collections, as is illustrated by the example in the article. I am surprised you question it. Are you disputing the notability guidelines for artists? It is quite common to use the references in ULAN and RKD. In this particular case she would probably pass notability even without any availabel examples of her work, just based on the early mentions of her in 18th-century dictionaries. If you are unfamiliar with the sources for artists on Wikipedia, you should bring this up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Women artists. Jane (talk) 22:18, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My questions above are in line with WP:ARTIST. These criteria do not say that inclusion in a list or repository per se is sufficient. The RKD entry explicitly states that she was an "amateur draftsman", which does not exactly establish notability. And how she "assisted" her family members in making The Great Theatre of Dutch Painters remains unclear, but from the wording it is obvious that she did not play a major role in its creation. – Editør (talk) 10:55, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response, which is just some jargon directing me to this text: " Authors, editors, journalists, filmmakers, photographers, artists, architects, and other creative professionals: The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors; The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory or technique; The person has created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film, or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews; The person's work (or works) either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums." For artists, successors re art historians, and they and their works are cited in entries in ULAN and RKD and most other libraries that pertain to the subject (in this case, history of the topography of the Netherlands). Her co-creation of the significant work on the topography f the Netherlands has won her an entry in those databases, which is enough to pass enwiki's notability criteria. I know what WP:ARTIST says. It is a section of the article with the guidelines for notability of people on the English Wikipedia. I had noticed that Antonina Houbraken's article text did not establish notability accordingly. I expected that there was more to the article's subject, so I added a maintenance template (instead of nominating it for deletion).
