Grammar/style

"A member of the Democratic Party, as a national co-chairman of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, and as a member of President Barack Obama's Transition Economic Advisory Board,[1] and as Chairman of the 2012 Democratic National Convention in September 2012.[2]" Is this a sentence? Wouldn't it be preferable with a verb, such as: "A member of the Democratic Party, he served as a..."

Wikipedia is not a campaign website

[edit]

Mr. Villaraigosa is a declared candidate for the governorship of California, so it is understandable that the campaign would be closely monitoring, and providing input to, the page. However, we need to be vigilant in our efforts to maintain the encyclopedic integrity of the article. There are numerous examples here of content which is inappropriate to include.

Here are just two examples:

"After law school, he became a field representative/organizer with the United Teachers Los Angeles where he organized teachers and was regarded as a gifted advocate.[10]"

"There, he saw first-hand the issues that teachers experience in the classroom and the importance of ensuring all teachers have the resources they need to be successful in their profession."

The regards of a small group of individuals, even if accurate, are irrelevant, and add nothing to the article except puffery. And the comment about what Mr. Villaraigosa "saw first-hand" couldn't have been more obviously written by a campaign associate if it tried. If no other editors can present an argument as to why I'm wrong, I will be removing these from the page.

I definitely agree, particularly of the sections which cite old generic campaign promises, then attribute statistics which have absolutely nothing to do with him. Especially on public safety.75.82.214.107 (talk) 18:38, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This article links inline citations to footnotes lower on the page - is this acceptable? I feel like the footnotes should be integrated into the inline citations but wanted opinions form others before doing it. Quorum816 (talk) 22:10, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
