Moved[edit]

Boldly moved to Antonis Mor. The Getty Union list (see note on text) lists 29 variants, but Anthony More is clearly outdated even in England. This is their "preferred name". There are several redirects which I have updated. Johnbod 13:02, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Joanna Woodall's recent research (published 2008) names him Anthonis Mor.HansEworth (talk) 20:17, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And his wife probably colled him "Tony" .... This is a no-winner game. We need to stick to one of the common forms, and create re-directs. If anyone likes, they can add a sentence to the article, "Also known as ..." and list at least the most common forms, if not all of them. {I have known of other artists of the period who themselves changed the form of their name throughout their life.) That is in the article, as is his record of 29 variants, per the authoritative Getty Union list. There are 12 redirects, if not 29. Johnbod (talk) 18:48, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just as long as we don't now move it to "Anthonis Mor" (recognizing that in many non-English languages, the "th" is pronounced as a "t", just as in "Thomson"). Ron B. Thomson (talk) 18:58, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's a good bet his wife didn't call him "Tony" since they were both Dutch. "Ton" and "Anton" are the best contenders.137.205.100.105 (talk) 10:36, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
