List?

[edit]

Probably this falls under the category of list, and as such won't be suitable for GAN. Auntieruth55 (talk) 18:44, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I am not sure what it is really. It feels kind of like a list but then some things does not. I was hoping the WikiProjects would assess it. Esuzu (talkcontribs) 19:52, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit

[edit]

I have provided a Major copyedit as requested. Please note that this process is still in progress. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact --SciHound (talk) 18:26, 2 June 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Thank you very much for taking your time SciHound! It looks very good so far Esuzu (talkcontribs) 09:16, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There is a grammatical error in this line in the table, and it looks like it has been missed in the initial edit:
"However, Tärnström only reached Côn Sơn Island where the Calmar had been forced to find a winter birth. " That should be berth. Cotinis (talk) 14:30, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good spot! Thanks. Have fixed...--SciHound (talk) 15:16, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that there were a few areas of confusion that require fact checking. I have asked the original author to take a look.

  1. I have used the word 'assistant' in one instance as the original sentence made no sense. I checked that particular apostle's wiki page.
It is correct, thank you. Esuzu (talkcontribs) 09:16, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  1. The original Anders Sparrman text never mentioned if or when he actually did become Linneaus' student. This was confusing so I have added a short clause that will need to be checked.
He was, thank you for clarifying the text. Esuzu (talkcontribs) 09:16, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

British English?

[edit]

I noticed this was decided this article should be written in American English. I think it would be better if it would be written in British English. First of all Carl Linnaeus is written in British English. Since this page is a sub page to Carl Linnaeus the same writing style would be better I think. Also, this article has stronger ties to England than America, for example all of the Cook expeditions that some of the apostles followed. Esuzu (talkcontribs) 09:25, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Happy to convert this at your request. I only used American English because you had! --SciHound (talk) 10:52, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great! :) I had? Oops... I guess I am a bit confused concerning that sometimes. Esuzu (talkcontribs) 20:10, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Page Title

[edit]

As mentioned on your user page, I would like to recommend that this page be retitled to reflect the more common usage of the term 'Linneaus' apostles', with or without the apostrophe. Also, whether or not 'apostles' should be capitalised is a matter I am also open about. --SciHound (talk) 11:02, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes that is probably a good idea. I will try to look in the sources for whether or not apostles should be capitalised. Will probably rename it to the weekend. Esuzu (talkcontribs) 20:11, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've listed this article for Peer Review so I think we should wait with changing the name until we get more input there. Esuzu (talkcontribs) 14:35, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great work on the article so far. It's very easy to read, simple and well structured. As requested, I'll also help and edit the article. Davtra (talk) 08:39, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great! The more the merrier :) Thank you, looking forward to your edits. If possible please also add your opinion to the name change. Esuzu (talkcontribs) 17:14, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
