I've got an idea

No, we don't. In my opinion, Wikipedia really, really, really needs to ignore April Fool's and make it hard for people to make "humorous" edits on that day. It is ridiculous enough as it is. mstroeck 19:22, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

I have a better idea. Would it make sense to protect April 1st on April 1st. If anything notable happens, it can probably wait until everyone's gotten it out of their system on April 2nd to be updated. Dan (talk) 21:16, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Merge

I concur with BQZip01. This would also raise conflicts when more than one festival claimed the same date. For example, should 26 December be St. Stephen's Day or Boxing Day? — BillC ^talk 17:42, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Oppose the suggested merger for reasons stated above. In addition where would Easter Day, Good Friday and other movable feasts be put if such merges were to become common practice. --Drappel 17:49, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Absoloutely not! Not only the reasons above, but it is also already a well-established article (April Fools' Day, I mean) and far too long to merge here, even if cut down. It's also a very important and notable day internationally. --RazorICE 12:19, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Oppose as well. April 1 is about the date, not different from April 2 or March 31: April Fools' Day is about the special meaning the date has gotten and the pranks and so on performed. The two ar not interchangeable and are both too long and important to put into one article. Fram 13:14, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate this proposal has only been up for a little over 30 hours, but consensus seems pretty clear-cut to be, particularly since no rationale was provided in the proposal. Births and deaths section

The births and deaths sections in most Date articles have become unmanageably large. In accordance with the guidelines, I'm continuing to weed these by removing entries for celebrities with 0-4 articles in other languages. Where possible, these have been transferred to the relevant Year in Topic articles. As well as making the lists more manageable, this will help with the globalization effort.Deb (talk) 12:19, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
