Schools Assessment[edit]

Main priority is gathering references to defend claims. Alumni list is useful but is it complete?. Photo gallery would be a nice addition Victuallers 18:02, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

All (potential) article editors should check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools, Wikipedia:Manual of Style, Wikipedia:About, and especially Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not if they haven't been read before. 71.146.131.197 15:54, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia: Not a class registration form[edit]

I have to say, the "Curriculum" section of this article belongs in a class registration form more than in Wikipedia; very unencyclopedic. Also, section below, or the "Extracurricular activities", has too many facts and statements that are unverified. Skyscraper Phoenix 07:43, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, they really shouldn't be there. If they should, it would need to be rewritten into prose. Very little in the article can be verified from quality sources. Zedla 00:45, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will delete the list of classes from this article. Another instance of this unencyclopedic class list appears in the San Mateo High School article, so you may want to check it out. Skyscraper Phoenix 03:03, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Burlingame border controversy[edit]

By no stretch of anyone's imagination is this school's territory bordering on Burlingame.

It's between San Mateo and Hillsborough. I believe it is generally considered to be in San Mateo, although some of the equipment, for example, says Hillsborough. Bduddy 01:30, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And as the other poster said, the Burlingame assertion is ridiculous. Burlingame isn't anywhere near the school. Nearly every source I could find listed the school as in San Mateo, including everything I could ever see from the school. It's in San Mateo. Bduddy 19:40, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

huh? errors happen, it got fixed. At least the Burlingame (who claimed it was *in* Burlingame?) border assertion has some debatable basis unlike certain uncited sources and personal beliefs: Navteq (google, mapquest, etc.) call Woodland Drive directly behind the campus as being in Burlingame, CA 94010: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/linktomap.adp?mapdata=p5kqyoo6yZK8RIK3Y%252bA%252fOMnEeehwmptj6QrHkonLepWC0YtqFp%252fyKESPr9PGuRrspj8%252bHaHn2zcCKzhUUeJT8e1BcuD8WyjxNNGxpAlUoWkk98p%252fj%252fTs%252fStj9p9IXZL%252fQ%252bw%252fy1V6PiZY3V11TsBAmYFEVDgVit%252bP%252fj2PnapJPTFo%252bM1jAEtmhL1dccE0AA4den8syzg3EWpLS3RHFTVO1VBTVUwNUlxGHd67ld2TXJSPFdESnBYdBBlhQ%252fthbNpQCmpzNRhW3j9PTWTrtySH%252bPixCWSOhMB6G5WJENjKb0G4KuMkf2PCDc0ICm4SZvurPcBZMypF2oKapir%252b2vu3tgRQtr9vryAo888MAZpFnX6TDJVPkzOkGWZJLwd%252fnJUNHzMjww9uXbamFIuXCAyDQZyjF5CiGf2IxMnKo4i4T9NJaxpPLdLOeyWxVzR8R8ISPYu4Ee0dPa%252bxKLf1rD8EgCkGITs2hCcwDHeTGLrZRgv7T3hJgwImuqXRJ0l%252frqIW2C5kq4aa8u%252frf6BFER4v%252fOfF%252fkREp3CoqPpcnZhP%252b9PN8DG%252f1Hgw1A%253d%253d http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Woodland+Drive,+94010&ie=UTF8&om=1 Plug in 1108 Woodland Drive, 94010 into globexplorer.com, even they claim that's Burlingame. 71.146.141.126 19:16, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that Woodland is actually the border between San Mateo and Hillsborough, California. Hillsborough and Burlingame also share a border AND the same zip code (94010).—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Schmiteye (talkcontribs) 07:56, 17 February 2007.

Statistics inclusion[edit]

-I guess you'd consider 2 AP as a "lack of" it

I question whether or not the inclusion of recent AP scores is encyclopedic. I am tending towards "no," and may seek further comment on the matter... Tom Lillis 07:49, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I believe it is, as information may be inferred from the statistics. It reflects upon the school, considering that some parents may like to compare between schools and thus would appriciate relevant recent scores.
After conferring with some other editors and consulting the relevant policy, it seems fairly clear that this particular data doesn't belong on Wikipedia. If you'd like to discuss the matter further, please contact me on my Talk page. I'm always up for productive debate. Tom Lillis 08:40, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I concur with the 'no'. There are several issues: verification, non-notable, etc. Parents can use the Great Schools.net profile for comparative purposes, which is not Wikipedia's intent. 71.146.141.126 20:11, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Student government, spirit, athletics[edit]

Just fyi, I took out the student government section (it was completely untrue. student government is actually very competitive, with most positions having two or three candidates) and I also took out the assertion that the average number of club members is 10 (again, this is not true. and even if it were, how would anybody actually know this? is there some administrator in aragon who goes to each club meeting and statistically tracks club attendance?).

I removed the last two sentence of Sports "Aragon excells in most sports, and unlike other schools (namely San Mateo and Hillsdale) Aragon has absolutely no visible school spirit." Even though I'm a student of Aragon, I don't think it meets the NPOV guideline of Wikipedia.--RNAi 06:28, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree regarding that removal, I am too a student at Aragon, and i know for a fact that we have little to no school spirit. If you asked another student, from one of the aforementioned schools, they would undoubtedly agree. I shall leave it as is, untill we can agree one way or the other.

I would say that Aragon DOES show school spirits. Often I see people around the school wearing the school colors and no doubt during the fall rally, the student body show an huge amount of school spirit.--RNAi 22:17, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Compare us to a school like San Mateo High School, compared to them (or even burlingame) we have none. Example: I was at a swim meet, PAL's; the swimming championships, and Aragon was the only school without a cheer.
My experience at Aragon concurs with Aragon having poor school spirit. Wearing school colors may be a sign of school spirit, but red and black are rather common and popular colors. However, perhaps removing text regarding school spirit from the article would be best, since the perception of school spirit is highly subjective depending on the student and period of matriculation. Integrity168 09:01, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

School spirit is entirely subjective and does not belong on this page

Extracurricular activities[edit]

Does anyone else have info on what to put under robotics?

This whole freaking article is NPOV and full of spelling and grammatical errors.

Half the "teachers" are actually students, and that's only the beginning. I'd revert it, but I can't find a clean edit... Bduddy 21:15, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, its very sad the amount of vandalism on this article. It shows poorly on the professionalism of current Aragonites and alumni. Are there any matriculating Aragonites willing to correct some of the writing? It's difficult for an alumnus like myself to make corrections on things such as the current instructors for classes. Integrity168 09:01, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

just tagged it as {cleanup} and citations needed, it really does need work, a lot of statements and teacher names are likely non-notable and unverifiable so can be dispensed with. 71.146.162.50 21:13, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the section for Robotics, I'm sure there is infomation in the ARTwiki. http://art.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?WikiHomePage. If I have time, I might add something up. --RNAi 03:21, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is. There's also http://www.aragonrobotics.org, but it's horribly out of date. I could help, as I'm on the team. Bduddy 18:36, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, Red. ;-) --RNAi 22:47, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, who is it? Now that I think about it, the name seems familiar...Bduddy 00:27, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Name? What Name? RNAi? --RNAi 04:44, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Your name... or someone else's name, I guess... there's no way for me to check... >_> Bduddy 01:27, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Alumni: Pieter[edit]

This was listed as a single name, without first or last name, class, or reason why they are a "Highly-respected investment banker". If no citation is given in 5 days, there would be reason why this entry shouldn't be deleted.--207.114.206.48 (talk) 03:11, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No citation has been provided, Pieter's listing in Notable Alumni will be removed.--207.114.206.48 (talk) 04:14, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please assist this editor by helping to create wikipedia articles for the three Aragon High School Alumni.--207.114.206.48 (talk) 05:39, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
After reading WP:BLP1E and WP:NLIST, it is my conclusion that the individuals above meet notability requirements as they have been referenced in multiple secondary verifiable sources, and thus may warrant their own Wikipedia article, even if they do not presently have one. I will not add them until consensus is reached, but if it is, these notable alumni should be re-added to the list. --RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 03:39, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced mathematics team[edit]

Aragon boasts an exceptional mathematics team with an AMC 10A team score of 291/300. Furthermore, since 2008, Aragon High School has contributed students to the 15-member San Francisco Bay Area ARML Team.

I extended the current mathematics section and added more references but i could not find any information on the quoted text above. If anyone can find the source, please post it here or add it to the article. For the moment, i'm removing it. Misteraznkid (talk) 20:52, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced music ensembles[edit]

I personally know there are more than the ones listed currently in the article but i can't find sources that list any more than those. If anyone can put up some news articles about aragon's music groups, it'd be helpful. Misteraznkid (talk) 21:32, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

History[edit]

I am uncertain of the year Aragon High School was established (possibly 1960?), but can guarantee it was NOT "1990".

Further research/correction required.

Thank you. AC Smith, Class of 1967 Beachdog67 (talk) 01:56, 4 March 2011 (UTC) Moved from [1]. jonkerz 02:02, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I looked into it, and 1961 seems to be the year, see [2]. This is also what the infobox says and what the history section said until a few days ago when an IP editor changed it to 1990 in this edit without explanation. It is now changed back. jonkerz 02:14, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
