[edit]

Is this article about Barkly Street or the city of Ararat ? I always thought Wikipedia was an encyclopedia rather than a collection of postcards but it seems that some people still prefer it be the latter. To me, all the photo in the infobox shows is one small part of Ararat. There are no recognisable landmarks in it. It doesn't even show the main shopping area. Its just shows a bunch of cars and a handful of run of the mill non-descript buildings. Makes Ararat look like a small country town and there is absolutely no context that this is a city of almost 10,000 people. Have a look at other similar sized cities and there are aerial photos, photos from the city's main lookout etc. Bigger cities have recognisable skylines. I think a broader picture gives a sense of not just a handful of commercial buildings, but the general housing, urban form and surrounding geography. --WalkingMelbourne (talk) 09:24, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
