Question

[edit]

I found this about archnet here

A type of local area network, such as a token ring network, that uses Ethernet hardware.

Does this definition not contradict the one given in the WikiPedia? Could some one please clarify? Thank you :-) --anirudh 07:12, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article seems to be a somewhat confused description of ARCNET, to which I have redirected it. There are also a number of ArchNets which all seem to be online communities dealing with either architecture or archaeology. Sam8 17:28, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not to be confused with another archnet - this one is spelled with a capitalized A and N. A propos, there doesn't even seem to be any other ArchNets in the English Wikipedia. Can anyone corroborate this? Having recently looked at the actual ArchNet website, it is amazing to see how little it has changed aesthetically over the last five years. Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 2 external links on ArchNet. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Note from Archnet Content Manager

[edit]

This article is in need to updating. In 2010 Archnet was moved from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at MIT to the Libraries and the newly created Aga Khan Documentation Center (AKDC@MIT). Archnet was substantially redesigned and relaunched in 2013. All logins were eliminated to make the site accessible to all. The name of the site is no longer written with the capital N. In the text of the article it has been fixed, but not in the title itself. We would be grateful if someone could fix that.

I agree with the note at the top of the page that the article "contains content that is written like an advertisement." We are very proud of Archnet and the contributions it has made to the practice, studying, and understanding of architecture around the world, but it has been and continues to be a bold and audacious experiment. That means we sometimes get things wrong, and I think the article should reflect that. Indeed, there is much about the article that needs to be updated or made more precise.

As Archnet Content Manager and AKDC@MIT Interim Program Head, it is not appropriate for me to make those changes, but I'd be happy to speak with or provide information needed to anyone who is able to do so.
