442 Area Code numbers now being assigned

[edit]

As of 2012, new telephone numbers are being assigned with the new 442 overlay area code. In early 2012, at least one business had a large sign in Carlsbad, California, advertizing land; the phone number listed began (442) 999-xxxx. When I moved to a "55+" apartment complex in Carlsbad in late July, I received a internet-based home phone number by Time Warner Cable starting with (442) 333-xxxx. So 760 is indeed running out of numbers and the 442 code is now being used. It took over two years but it's happening. -- Glenn L (talk) 03:47, 7 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that the City of Porterville is listed as being in Kern County within the 442/760 area codes. This is not correct, though. Porterville is in Tulare County, and is within the 559 area code. I haven't edited the page yet on the off-chance there's another Porterville I'm not aware of. Bdoe (talk) 01:45, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
