25 Littkr Pigs[edit]
I attended a ceremony some years ago and understand that both the “ 25 Little Pigs “ who won the Southwest Conference in 1954 and later , their Coach , Bowden Wyatt were inducted into the Arkansas Spirts Hall of Fame ?
My father , Bobby Ellis Gilliam was one of the 25 Littke Pigd playing at Arkansas from played from 52 through 55 . He passed yesterday morning . Br was from Monticello but has lived in Shreveport and pursued his career as a professional career as a geologist . I played at Ouachita under Coach Buddy Bob Benson in 71-74 and am currently a layer in Shreveport .
When Coach Wyatt took over the program , he changed the approach , focusing on toughness , quickness and spieed and with their numbers being greatly reduced . I found an article recording the doors on the pushers , with Henry Moore , Buddy Benson and Henry Walker ring the fastest at bathos distances and with Bobby Gilliam , a pulling guard and defensive lineman / nose nab. Ring the 4th fastest .
We have bern reviewing many old articles and programs yesterday including those of the 1954 year , when the Razorbacks near Texas in Austin for the first time in many years and then near highly ranked Ole Miss in Little Rock .
Thank you and as we are adjusting and looking at his career , I wanted to pass this along .
Bobby S. Gilliam
