[edit]Let me try to dissect what is going on in this article line by line. --RaffiKojian 04:35, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
In 20th Century, Armenians established or voluntereed in several batallions in other nations' armies, mostly fighting against the Ottoman forces:
- All we are talking about here is a period of 20 years max, why are we saying 20th century? I must say I also am not crazy about the article name, but can't think of a good alternative at this time unless we just say "Armenian Batallions" and list everything including WWI, Karabakh, etc. I especially do not like the words "in other armies", this should be removed no matter what. Armenians fought on all sides - as was natural. They fought for the Ottomans, the Bulgarians, the Russians, etc. --RaffiKojian 04:35, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
During the Balkan Wars, Armenians had an auxiliary battle group within Bulgarian Army, fighting against Ottoman Turks - see wikipedia article Andranik_Toros_Ozanian#Balkan_Wars
- Were those forces primarily from Bulgaria? Would we want to mention that? "During the Balkan wars, many Armenians from Bulgaria fought alongside the Bulgarians"??? --RaffiKojian 04:35, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
During World War I, the French Army employed an Armenian Legion in Adana (Turkey) and Arara (Palestine), fighting against Ottoman Turks and Germans - see wikipedia articles French Armenian Legion and Sarkis Zeitlian
- Was this during WWI or in the aftermath? Dates would be nice for all of these references. --RaffiKojian 04:35, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
There were also Armenian volunteer units in Russian Army and British Army in World War I, fighting Ottoman Turks in Western Armenia, in modern Turkey - see wikipedia article Armenian_volunteer_units
- It should say "now in modern Turkey". --RaffiKojian 04:35, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
