League positions[edit]

@Kivo: A couple of questions/points: (1) Where did you get the finishing positions for the pre-1974 club? (2) The finishing positions in the late 1970s seem to have been wrong, at least according to the club's website, which states they won Division Three in 1978–79 and Division Two the following year, then spent only two seasons in Division One. Previously the season list showed them winning Division Three in 1977–78, being promoted from Division Two the following season and then spending only two seasons in Division One. Can you double check that against whatever your source was? Cheers, Number 57 20:23, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have collected local South Yorkshire non-league tables from newspapers (Doncaster Gazette for Doncaster sides) back to the 1880s - it's just a case of double checking them. I have just double checked and they definitely won Division 3 in 77/78, Division 2 in 78/79, 79/80 they finished mid-table in Division 1, 80/81 they finished 3rd, then 81/82 they won Division 1 - Premier Division a year later.
lol, good to see the club know their own history... I'll amend the list back. Number 57 20:48, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the Doncaster Senior League has had the following divisional set-ups -
  • 1925-26 to 1947-48 - one league
  • 1948-49 to 1957-58 - Division 1 and Division 2
  • 1958-59 to 1965-66 - Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3
  • 1966-67 - Premier Division, Division 2 and Division 3
  • 1967-68 to 1987-88 - Premier Division, Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3
  • 1988-89 to 1990-91 - Premier Division, Division 1 and Division 2
  • 1991-92 - Premier Division, Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3
  • 1992-93 to 1996-97 - Premier Division, Division 1 and Division 2
  • 1997-98 to present - Premier Division and Division 1

So maybe Armthorpe's five Division 1 titles should instead be added to their Premier Division titles - not factually correct but they have won the DSL 6 times rather than just once. Kivo (talk) 21:09, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'm never really sure how to deal with that in honours lists... Number 57 21:38, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
