One of those great Steve Haskin newsblogs, if it seems suitable: http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/horse-racing-steve-haskin/archive/2016/08/28/baffert-forever-linked-to-unbridled-s-song.aspx . Montanabw(talk) 04:04, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take this one on, will post review soon. Kosack (talk) 18:57, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lead[edit]

  • The lead is a little light with only one paragraph. Is there any more information that can be added here, breeding pedigree, where he was trained and who by, his (seemingly?) young age of death, his record breaking purse amount?

Background[edit]

  • 3 out of the first 4 sentences here begin with Arrogate, which leads a little repetitively. Perhaps merging the sentence about Baffert with the following by adding "where it was discovered that his front teeth..." or something similar?
  • "probably after being kicked by another horse", this reads more like Wikipedia's opinion than the source. I think this needs to be attributed more to the speaker.

2016: three-year-old season[edit]

  • Is ref 9 supporting the whole first paragraph? It took me some searching to find the results from the first sentence, why not link directly to the results page of the races?
  • The Racing Post has the date of his debut as 18 April, not 17?
  • Does the Racing Post support phrases like "lead from the start"? I can't see any mention of that in the results page, is it behind the member's paywall?
  • Allowance race is linked but is used in the sentence before this. Move the link to the first usage.
  • " ‘Chrome led from the outset", is the apostrophe supposed to be here?

2017: four-year-old season[edit]

  • Link Gun Runner at the first mention.
  • Daily Racing Form is linked but is used in the paragraph prior to this. Move the link to the first usage.
  • What does ducked in mean?

Retirement[edit]

  • Worth adding what the fee was in aid of for the uninitiated.
  • Ref 44 mentions a post-mortem was due to be carried out. Was a cause of death ever established?

Pedigree[edit]

  • Mr. Prospector has a period in the article title.
  • Is red-linked Fortino likely to be notable enough for an article?

References[edit]

  • There are numerous refs that have publishing dates available but aren't in the included.
  • The Blood Horse is used in several different variations, such as The Blood-horse, Blood Horse and Blood Horse.com. Use one style for consistency.
  • Refs 7, 10 and 44 needs accessdates.
  • Ref 31 has an author available.

Here's what I picked up from an initial run through. Horse racing is far from my primary area of editing, but I was able to follow the article pretty well so it presents the information in a good way. Placed on hold for now. Kosack (talk) 19:17, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
