The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Arts District, Dallas/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Pretty good so far. Needs expansion in terms of history.. some references.. and the lead needs to be broken down into sections and integrated into the article. drumguy8800 C T 09:18, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Section organization — venues vs. other structures

[edit]

These two sections I find are confusing as to their contents and organization. The "Arts District venues" lead paragraph notes that the "Arts District is home to 13 facilities and organizations including..." Following that is a bulleted list which does not match the lead's list in number or order. And, there is a second list in the next section as well. It would appear that the venue section is intended to possibly be for those performing and visual arts-dedicated venues? And, then the "other structures" are the non-art ones? If so, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre should be moved to the first group.

Further the initial list in the opening paragraph of the venue section includes organizations (like the Dallas Theatre Center) rather than venues or structures (which in that case would be the Wyly Theatre venue) which seems to further confuse the listings. There are many more other "resident companies" in the Arts District not named also. Should they be included somewhere? So, saying there are only 13 facilities and organizations seems inaccurate. Should we just say it's "home to multiple facilities and organizations including..." or something along those lines rather than defining a specific number?

Just looking for further thoughts and comments on how to better outline the nature and scope of the Arts District in this article in a clearer and consistent fashion in addition to what should or should not be listed. I look forward to your input. Thanks. MarcusGarland (talk) 01:22, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Upon further review of these various lists, I note that there are a number of other buildings/venues in the boundaries of the Arts District that are also not included, e.g. One Arts Plaza, KPMG Building, Hall Arts Hotel, Hall Arts Residences, 1900 Pearl, Sammons Park, the under construction Atelier Apartments, Montgomery Theatre, etc. See the official Art District website for more details as well as this page from the City of Dallas defining the Planned Development districts that make up the Arts District officially (including a map).
Maybe we could structure the list similar to the official website, i.e. Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and Community? Any thoughts? MarcusGarland (talk) 20:36, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
