Orphaned references in Assassination of Anwar Sadat[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Assassination of Anwar Sadat's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "nytimes.com":

  • From Anwar Sadat: "Anwar el-Sadat, the Daring Arab Pioneer of Peace with Israel". The New York Times.
  • From Egypt: Cambanis, Thanassis (11 September 2010). "Succession Gives Army a Stiff Test in Egypt". The New York Times. Egypt. Retrieved 3 November 2011.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 19:33, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Missing vital information about assassins and victims[edit]

The article is lacking in mentioning duly those who planned the attack or those who died. About the assassins our article says, Islambouli and the other assassins were tried, found guilty, sentenced to death, and executed by firing squad in April 1982. But yet no mention whatsoever of their names except their leader Lieutenant Khalid Islambouli. In fact those who were executed later included Hussein Abbas, Ata Tayel, Mohamed Abdel Salam Farag, Abdel Hamid Abdel Salam Abdel Aal.. Surely their names should be included. Also the alleged planner of the attack is known as Abboud al Zummar who was imprisoned and only released in January 2011 with the Islamist government of Egypt led by President Morsi. Another name involved is allegedly his cousin Tarek al Zummar.

The same misgivings about names of victims. We say vaguely and to my assessment carelessly: "The attack lasted about two minutes. Sadat and eleven others were killed outright or suffered fatal wounds, including the Cuban ambassador to Egypt, an Omani general, and a Coptic Orthodox bishop.". Really Sadat and 11 others?. Doesn't the general or the ambassador or the bishop have name? Eleven others? Just some dignity in mentioning those high officials and personalities who died that day.... With reserach the names which are public information surfaced. For example the Egyptian general is called Harb Hassan Allam, the Omani general is Khalfan Nasser Mohammad, the bishop is Al Anba Samuel,. Also dfead were President Sadat's photographer Mohamed Youssef Rashwan. Other individuals: Saeed Abdel Raouf Bakar and a Chinese, Chang Lu... Please reserach and duly add names werldwayd (talk) 01:53, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates of assassination site[edit]

Sadat was assassinated close to 30°03′54″N 31°18′50″E, the pyramidlike monument is the tomb of the Unknown Soldier as can be seen in the videos of the assassination. 30°2′N 31°14′E is I think the default center of Cairo perhaps, in the middle of a highway, not close to the actual site.
