There are many signs stating that "Wild Ponies Bite & Kick" and that you shouldn't feed them or any of the other wildlife. I've lived minutes away from Assateague my entire life on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and I wanted people to be aware of this. I see people feeding the ponies almost every time I visit the refuge, everything from Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches to Snickers Bars, and it has to stop. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smowk (talkcontribs) 15:41, 22 January 2006 ___________

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia

[edit]

Please keep this in mind when editing articles. This article contains a bit of advertising and a warning basically telling people to read signs and not feed the wild ponies. I'm sure the later was done with the best of intentions but this is an encyclopedia. This is not a place to advertise or post public service announcements.-Jeff (talk) 10:26, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wildlife on Assateague

[edit]

Assateague is remarkable for its wealth of bird life. The ponies are there and attract many tourists, and it is amazing to see them there in the wild; but you also see many people with scopes and binoculars on the roadside looking at birds. I think that aspect could be better represented in the article, and I'll add some things when I have time and references at hand. Nathan43 (talk) 01:29, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Map?

[edit]

There's no map. I feel like there ought to be a map.-Ich (talk) 03:12, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you. Nathan43 (talk) 13:39, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
