Please read: New articles[edit]

All active editors need to be aware that not every series should have an article, due to necessary notability and local media coverage. Please see the following suggested guidelines. Note that this is not an officially agreed set of rules, but a suggestion for future seasons.

Series to include on the season summary article (like this):

  • All T20I/WT20I World Cup qualifiers, even those including one or more Full Members
  • Any other events with T20I/WT20I status that are not included on the equivalent International cricket season
  • Selected events without T20I/WT20I status, such as regular regional tournaments (e.g., Baltic Cup)
  • 50-over events without ODI status that are part of qualification for regional events (e.g., ACC Premier Cup for the Asia Cup)

Series that should have an article:

  • All T20I/WT20I World Cup qualifiers
  • Cricket tournaments that are part of a multi-sport event (e.g., Commonwealth/Pacific/Asian/African/South Asian Games)
  • Regional championships (e.g., South American Championship, Pacific Cup)
  • Other regular or long-standing and well-covered events (e.g., Kwibuka, Inter-Insulars)
  • Any other T20I/WT20I series that involves at least one side with current ODI status

Series that should not have an article:

  • T20I/WT20I bilateral series that do not meet any of the above criteria
  • Multi-team tournaments between the smallest teams that do not meet any of the above criteria and do not have fairly significant media coverage.

Nordic Cup[edit]

@Bs1jac: Hi. Got anything for that series? I saw you creating the Inter-Insular one. This one might have something as its earlier. Human (talk) 07:55, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@A Simple Human I would like to but there isn't much out there for the nordic cup at the moment. Only found the czarsportz thing, and a passing mentjon in the Finnish language bit of their site. Have got the men's inter insular and women's UAE-HK series up im the last couple of days. Bs1jac (talk) 07:58, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Finland-Estonia[edit]

@Bs1jac: Hi. The source you provided doesn't mention anything about the tour. Maybe they removed it if the tour is cancelled or not. Human (talk) 21:53, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@A Simple Human hmm, seems to have been removed. There was a paragraph about hosting Estonia for games, but perhaps its not happening (or details are changing). Will remove. Bs1jac (talk) 21:59, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human Some of the mention is actually still there. Enough to be on the calender. "Sijalla 85 oleva Viron maajoukkue saapuu puolestaan haastamaan Krikettikarhut Keravalle su 19.6.2022." Translation: "The Estonian national team in 85th place will arrive to challenge the Cricket Bears to Kerava on Sun 19.6.2022." Bs1jac (talk) 22:12, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: Interesting. When I use the automatic Google translation of the page, the entire sentence disappears. Human (talk) 22:18, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human Yeah that happened to me too for some reason. Had to copy the paragraphs individually into Google translate Bs1jac (talk) 22:19, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The empire[edit]

@Bs1jac: Hi. The Austro-Hungarian series is about to start tomorrow. Is there anything available to start the article? Where did you find the Hungarian captain though? If the squads are announced there should be enough for article. The German triseries only has two sources one of them is our favourite Czarsportz. I am taking care of the ODIs so that you dont have to overload yourself. Thanks Human (talk) 20:34, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@A Simple Human @A Simple Human I think the tri-series is just about ok with a full squad announcement. Bilaterals are much harder to justify, so I am not planning to create Aut-Hun unless there is something in local media or one of the reputable cricket sites (hopefully Cricket Europe will publish reviews). This might be after the series has started/finished unfortunately Bs1jac (talk) 20:40, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: Yes but where did you find the Hungarian captain's name. Did they announce anything? Cricket Europe doesnt publish reviews/news for every series though. Let me see if me or Mashfi23 can find something. Human (talk) 20:57, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human It was kind of half mentioned somewhere I think. I am not going to encourage putting stuff up that clearly doesnt meet GNG, but obviously if you find something feel free to go ahead or let me know. Probably need to accept that not every bilateral will necesarily meet GNG though. Czsrsports has regularly been cited as not enough on its own as the guy simply states what has been seen on cricinfo, other scoring sites etc. It can be used an extra source when needed. Bs1jac (talk) 21:20, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: There werent GNG issues before in earlier series. It all started when Sui-Lux got PRODed. May not being paranoid and being bold will help. Human (talk) 22:59, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human Yes (and I still stand by my opinion that the Lux series had two good sources even back then!), but having been PRODed once, I cant do that one again unless there is really good material. For Austria, there simply isnt any coverage in local media or reputable cricket sites yet, even the socials of the associations, so 100% GNG fail at the moment. Like you, i would LIKE to create the series, but until there is some kind of preview/announcement or review from a reliable source it can't go up (also noting that neither country is good at reporting so there is low confidence on these). It is on the season summary. Bs1jac (talk) 23:10, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: Lux-Sui was different thing. The reason was more of an opinion c9mpared to football friendlies than actual GNG. There are series more obscure but never got caught, it just happened to be at the wrong time. I saw both of the social medias. They regularly report about the domestic competitions. I dont know why decide to sideline international games out of all things. Human (talk) 23:18, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human Try to be a little patient and not get frustrated. Fact remains there is NO coverage yet. Things will probably be different and easier to justify when some scores are in. I know you like doing the scores, but we have to accept going forward that some small series may not meet GNG until after the event (if at all, but hopefully not). And the season page covers these. We all want the same thing. Bs1jac (talk) 07:30, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: Yes I think I went bit overboard. Wikipedia is changing rapidly and this is frustating me. A free encyclopedia shouldnt have so many rules, specially when I see people dont trust information obtained from Wikipedia. Human (talk) 07:55, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@A Simple Human: @Bs1jac: This series made me search the internet for reputable sources like never before, but I couldn't find anything except for the Czarsportz mention (as somewhat expected). I still did create an article for this in the Bangla Wikipedia (which I hope won't get a deletion notice) with that as the only source. Now that the series has started, hopefully something in CricketEurope or somewhere else will come up. Let's hope for the best.

Also, my internet provider did something and now I can't contribute to English Wikipedia from this IP address. Makes no sense since I used this very internet connection to edit articles up until May, and the block started in March. Tried requesting to unblock, but well- it went nowhere. I guess I can do nothing but wait for you guys to do your work regarding this series. Mashfi23 (talk) 17:45, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mashfi23: Thanks. As per the discussion here, the series does not (at present) pass GNG (or WPCRIC). A t20i series between associates cannot be assumed to notable, and there must be at least one or two reputable sources. We do not want to risk a wider review of asssociate cricket, therefore we are not creating a page for this one UNLESS reports are eventually published. I will of course put something together if that happens. Good luck sorting out the (hopefully temporary) block! Bs1jac (talk) 17:57, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mashfi23: Hi. Thanks for taking the time searching the internet for sources and creating an article on Bengali Wikipedia. I will look into that shortly (I know Bengali). You can ask for an exemption. What your provider did is used a proxy server or VPN to view "questionable content". When I lived in Bangladesh this happened quite often as the government banned "certain sites". Thanks Human (talk) 18:38, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human Thanks for acknowledging the article I created. I did ask for an exemption and that request got declined within a couple hours or so- so now I don't know where I can get a reviewer who would actually consider my case and the date anomaly. But well, for the time being, looks like there's now less chance of me interrupting contributors who might not like my work! :D Mashfi23 (talk) 19:16, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mashfi23: Yeah its annoying when internet providers do that. You can try the second method to unblock listed in the article. Human (talk) 19:40, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human: Do you mean the e-mailing method? It says there that that's only if I'm using an anonymous proxy or a VPN though (I don't know much about how IP addresses work, so can't say if that's the case for me; I'm not using a VPN is all I know). Mashfi23 (talk) 22:50, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mashfi23: Its not you its the internet provider thats using a proxy or VPN. You can explain your situation in detail in the admins or CheckUsers dont understand. Human (talk) 00:03, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human I guess the internet provider finally figured out that something was wrong, and I'm apparently not blocked from editing anymore as a result. I'm feeling a sense of freedom somewhat :P But anyway, just letting you know before I try to help you guys again with all these articles and scores. Mashfi23 (talk) 13:12, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mashfi23: Congrats. Try finding something about Belgium-Malta other than the Belgium squad announcement. Human (talk) 13:15, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human I will; thank you. Speaking of which...
@Bs1jac Is it okay to create a temporary placeholder article for Maltese cricket team in Belgium in 2022 (or any such article for that matter) for Wikidata purposes? As in putting in some words so that an article is there and then restoring the redirect soon after? Or will it be considered unethical? Mashfi23 (talk) 13:29, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@@Mashfi23 I wouldnt... just leave it until there are sources. Suggestion: you could create something in your sandbox ready to copy across later IF sources become available. Bs1jac (talk) 13:33, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: Speaking if that, CI messed up Aziz Mohammad of Belgium. They need to be informed. Human (talk) 14:18, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Others[edit]

@Bs1jac: Just to let you know Luxembourg and Belgium announced their squads for their series. Malta is being a bad host and Switzerland only mentions they are travelking with no squad updates. You have additional infos about Lux-Sui so can you come up with something? Human (talk) 20:28, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@A Simple Human Will have a look. Bs1jac (talk) 20:30, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: Thanks. Just dont desert when I requested you for Rahul Jariwala. Human (talk) 20:55, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human Ah come on... I have been really busy this week with the Kwibuka and Germany (and work!). Doing Luxembourg now Bs1jac (talk) 20:56, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: Nah its ok I was kidding. Just wanted a reply whether youd create or not thats all. Human (talk) 20:59, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human: Luxembourg series is up. I managed to find two third party refs (czarsports and one local media article) plus Luxembourg's socials. Please fill it out with any more that you find. I'll leave this series with you as I am already busy with the Kwibuka, possibly Germany tri-series, and want to spend less time doing scores at weekends. Bs1jac (talk) 21:12, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bs1jac: Hi. The Namibia tri-series might not have T20I status as mentioned here by czarsports: [1]. This is understandable as Challenge League ends on 27 and the series is about to start on 26. So either Jersey will not send the usual squad which means at least their match wont have T20Is or the dates will change. Let's see what happens next. Thanks Human (talk) 12:32, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@A Simple Human Yeah I noticed that clash. Jersey have said the same squad as currently in Uganda will play in the t20 part if the tour (with just Hawkins-Kay and Lawrenson being replaced by Asa Tribe and someone else I forget). There is a BBC article from last week that mentions Zimbabwe but not Namibia (although not surprising if they didnt know about it). Would be surprising if they agreed to the Namibia trip if not planning to play full internationals, as the other schedules were known... maybe they will stick all of Jersey's games at the end of the Namibia series. We'll soon find out. Bs1jac (talk) 12:45, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: Assuming the series is in double round robin format, that still looks unlikely. There have been no update from Namibia yet so I'm guessing the dates are shifting. Human (talk) 12:53, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human Namibia's calendar now shows 30 June (Nam-USA), 1 July (Nam-USA, Nam-Jer), 2 July (Jer-USA), 3 July (Jer-USA), leaving one Nam-Jer game missing if its a double round robin. It says t20 rather than t20i for these but I wouldn't read too much into that. Would be surprised if they are not t20i, but worth keeping an eye on. Bs1jac (talk) 21:44, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac @A Simple Human Hi; just noticed that ESPNcricinfo is now calling these games T20Is (which they weren't yesterday). Is there any new development? Mashfi23 (talk) 06:05, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mashfi23: Yeah I saw that too. But USA calls them just T20 practice match and Jersey calls it T20Is, while Namibia doesn't mention anything. By that logic the USA-Ned matches in Zimbabwe should also be T20Is. Human (talk) 07:05, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

European Sub Regionals Group C[edit]

@A Simple Human and Bs1jac: - Are the playoff semifinals scheduled for 2nd July postponed or canceled? Ankurc.17 (talk) 14:09, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ankurc.17: Cancelled according to Gibraltar. Cricclubs now has all fixtures moved to Brussels, with 5th and 7th place games tomorrow instead of Monday. Bs1jac (talk) 14:10, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ankurc.17: According to Gibraltar tweet and Cricclubs schedule they are cancelled. Human (talk) 14:11, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Brussels? Weren't the games in WaterLoo and Gent?? My georgraphy might be in serious question now Ankurc.17 (talk) 14:13, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mozambique Eswatini Series[edit]

@A Simple Human and Bs1jac: - Is the men's series an T20I or just T20. CI seems to have the women's scorecards.Ankurc.17 (talk) 18:28, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cricinfo have only received the official documents for the women's series so far, but are checking the men's. Both say official T20Is on the live scoring. Pretty sure there will be no wiki article for these due to lack of coverage/notability. Bs1jac (talk) 18:32, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Need to edit the ground's page accordingly. Hopefully tomorrow will update all the grounds. 1 week u r away and it seems 100+ T20Is have happened. Ankurc.17 (talk) 18:45, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure the grounds really merit a page to be honest; did you see that the one in Tikkurila got redirected? Maybe at least leave the men's one until 100% confirmed. Lol yes, lots of games lately! Bs1jac (talk) 19:32, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New articles[edit]

@Bs1jac: Female Cricket has a couple of articles up about the Continental Cup (Romania-Malta) and the upcoming Balkan Cup; any chance these are proper sources for Wikipedia articles on the events? মাশ্‌ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 23:10, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mashfi23 these events are not significant enough. No notable coverage. Inclusion on the season summary is sufficient. With far more going on again now we have to be more careful with notability rules. Bs1jac (talk) 06:51, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: I know about the notability rules, of course- and that's why I wanted to make sure if the aforementioned articles would be considered notable. মাশ্‌ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 11:41, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mashfi23: Yeah, no problem. We definitely need to all agree that not every series gets a page, especially as that is partly what the season summary is designed to achieve. Basically there needs to be at least some coverage in national/local media for these. I'm going by the general principle that the following are always ok: Anything involving a nation with ODI/WODI status; any continental event (e.g., South American Championship, Pacific Cup, East Asia, etc); events at multi-sport gatherings (Asian/Pacific/African Games, etc); annual events (Kwibuka, Valletta, Central Europe, etc). Other bilaterals or small multi-team events may be ok but only if there is some decent general coverage from local/national news (and/or the associations if they are of decent quality, i.e. more that a sketchy social media post). Bs1jac (talk) 11:50, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: That seems like a decent rule of thumb to keep in mind. Thanks for replying. New captain for Romania today! মাশ্‌ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 12:13, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
