Atlantic is launched again on 15 March 2008. http://www.schooner-atlantic.com/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wmcorbinlee (talkcontribs) 10:12, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nuttyrave's reference was broken, and it listed sailing craft without specifying the type of craft. A cursory search of vessel names listed on Nuttyrave's speed-record reference showed that monohull(s), catamaran(s), potentially a hydrofoil and trimaran, were clumped together. The potential speed difference each of these craft is significant, and therefore, the racing records of these types of craft should not be equivocated. After all, powerboat and sailboat records are listed separately, for the same reason (the significant difference in speed potential). Please provide the reference for the 75 year race record, as I have reverted the record to "100 years".

re:The link has moved to: http://www.sailspeedrecords.com/content/view/21/23/ The transatlantic record in any category was broken after 75 years by Paul Ricard, which was indeed not a monohull. My mistake.
Another link on the website: http://www.sailspeedrecords.com/content/view/73/30/ suggests the 2925nm monohull record was broken at the latest in 1997 by Nicorette. Herego 92 years recordkeeping. However the record was not beaten in a multiple-entry race until the 2005 Rolex Transatlantic Challenge. And Atlantic's record was set in a race.
So no need to change anything, but thanks for contributing! Nuttyrave (talk) 01:35, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
