Any chance of adding UK chart positions for the singles?

Is this REALLY a concept album? 80.2.171.76 (talk) 07:21, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Taxloss video[edit]

Surely we should mention this ? -- Beardo 19:04, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Name of the Band

I dont believe this is truly how the band were named. Firstly, they were originally called "Grey Lantern" and had a few small releases, but became Mansun later. The name comes from "A man called son", which was the original name, changed again due to a band called "A man called Adam" This is from memory, so needs checked, but I dont think there were any Charles Manson connitations, other than the avoidance of any.

Yes, the taxloss video is brilliant, and is well worth a mention. The band were given £25,000 to spend on a video, but persuaded the record company to give it to them in cash. They then changed it to £5 notes and bought a video camera and threw the rest off the balconies at Liverpool St Station in London one weekday morning at rush hour. They crew were led out and taken to court for 'Disturbing the Peace' although the charge was then changed to 'Causing a public nuisance', which led to them being released.

maybe taxloss should get its own page?joeinthebox 18:34, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't remember the band being in the Video for Taxloss. They were touring the US at the time of shooting. However, I believe they commissioned the stunt and recieved life bans from entering Liverpool Street station. They weren't prosecuted by the Police because Station staff joined in the chaos, rather than trying to stop it.User:Tim.cutting

Fair use rationale for Image:Mansun attack.jpg[edit]

Image:Mansun attack.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:22, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speculation about this being a concept album[edit]

There has been plenty of speculation over the years about this album having some "hidden" meaning or narrative: unless and until the band give a clear answer to this (and, let's face it, even if one of them did, it could well be something he made up on a whim) there's no point fans putting in their pet theory - there are plenty of fan forums for that sort of thing Dom Kaos (talk) 14:06, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Capital T[edit]

The T of the word 'the' in the album title ought to be capitalised, since it's part of the name of the character "The Grey Lantern." [/pedantry] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.175.34.123 (talk) 23:29, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Drummers[edit]

Is this article correct that Rathbone is the only drummer credited on the album? The Mansun page gives the impression that he only joined when the album was mostly finished, and re-recorded some but not all of the drum tracks (presumably originally recorded by Carlton Hibbert or possibly Julian Fenton)? 15:18, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
