I removed two categories from this article: Category:Rock musicians and Category:Vocalists. I have never heard Pablo sing and never playing rock music either. Teklund 4 July 2005 10:16 (UTC)

Pablo sang the lead track from "Earth's Rightful Ruler". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.139.180.190 (talk) 19:04, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cause of death

[edit]

I (low_stress) requested that a citation be added regarding Pablo's supposed death from "Collapsed Lung." This is a frequent criticism and attribution of Rastas, Reggae Artists, and Cannabis smokers. But unless you have primary evidence to back up this claim, I see this as an attempt to create and/or further the confusion and negative rumors about RASTAFARI culture, REGGAE Culture, and cannabis culture. Please provide direct evidence. I will be checking out other reggae artists to verify if this is a negative trend! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Low stress (talkcontribs) 18:53, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a ref. Wwwhatsup (talk) 19:52, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
He was clearly a sick man and there is no implication that his illness or early death was caused by cannabis use. Thanks, ♫ SqueakBox talk contribs 14:04, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

I added an image of the cover art, but I'm sure a better image could be found. As I'm not too sure on the whole Fair Use thing this will have to do for now. Elliot2005 17:09, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Found a better image on the Italian wiki. #29 (talk) 07:56, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nice pic. But one has to wonder if that isn't a copyvio - there is no evident permission from Peter Simon. Wwwhatsup 05:18, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Glen Adams

[edit]

Should there not be some mention that it was Glen Adams that first recorded under the name Augustus Pablo? Wwwhatsup 05:19, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thanks, ♫ SqueakBox talk contribs 14:03, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

Why is the 2008 release of a box set notable enough for inclusion, it actually reads like spam for Shanachie Records. Thanks, ♫ SqueakBox talk contribs 14:00, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was a major retrospective, authorized including video. Notable in that respect. I also think there's no harm in mentioning the kids, but in less flowery terms. However I won't make an issue out of it. Wwwhatsup (talk) 18:20, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The phrase Augustus Pablo popularised the use of the melodica (an instrument used primarily to teach children music in the Jamaican public schools) in reggae music. seems a little out of place in its current situation. It's a definite notability item. Perhaps it could somehow be fit into the lead? Wwwhatsup (talk) 18:20, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Huge amounts of his music available online. I fully agree about melodica and have moved to opening. I also added him to the Melodica article. Thanks, ♫ SqueakBox talk contribs 18:55, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I maintain a major retrospective boxset, including video, is notable, but I leave it to others. I've taken out 'seminal' and "to wide acclaim' in the dub album descriptions. It does seem that a phrase remarking on the considerable influence of these albums on the contemporary dub genre should be included - it's a question of finding a good source.
