Requested move

WP:RM page - * Talk:Austin HealeyAustin HealeyAustin Healey (rugby) – The other meaning of Austin Healey (the car brand) is much more common - at least the top 100 hits in google are all for the car Spute 10:21, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support Yes, it should be moved to Austin Healey. The name of this car was never hyphenated. That would be akin to hyphenating 'Aston Martin'. By the way, the Austin Healey car is substantially more well known in the world than Austin Healey the rugby player. I suggest renaming Austin Healey the rugby player to 'Austin Healey (Rugby Player)'.

  • Comment. The See Also section lists two similar initiatives — Nash-Healey and Jensen-Healey — and they are both hyphenated, so we'd be breaking a trend by renaming this one. We'd also have to rename Austin-Healey 100, Austin-Healey 3000 and Austin-Healey Sprite. I don't see much issue with keeping both pages where they are — there are dablinks at the top of both, so a wrong hit will quickly be redirected to the desired location. I'm on the verge of voting oppose here, but will refrain due to lack of knowledge of either rugby or vintage sports cars. --Qviri 10:42, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Google should not be used as a measure of acuuracy for anything without careful consideration of the results. GraemeLeggett 10:48, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yes, that's true. I was simply trying to find if anyone has ever put anything on the web about the rugby player, Austin Healey... and there's nothing down to 100 hits (when i stopped looking any further). I'd say that's fairly conclusive, and doesn't require much in the way of consideration? 82.69.4.121 10:53, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
      • Search for Austin Healy rugby and you'll find stuff.GraemeLeggett 11:05, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
        • Yes, but as far as use of the words Austin Healey goes, the rugby player is a very minor usage ('Austin Healey car' has 2,930,000 hits, 'Austin Healey rugby' only 149,000 - 5% as many). I don't know, i'm not massively opinionated on this, whichever way the consensus falls is fine by me, but i've had said Austin Healey should go to the most common use.Spute 12:49, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • I think the Austin Healey should go directly to the article about the car, without going via a dablink, since it's so much more common a usage of the words. As for hypenation, it is debatable (and inconsistent) in the cases of all three cars (Austin-Healey,Nash-Healey and Jensen-Healey), but even if the car article stays at Austin-Healey, i think Austin Healey should be a redirect to the car page.Spute 10:50, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
      • Why break a content-ful page that has a dablink at the top anyway by making it into just a redirect? If someone's looking for the car, it'll just take them one click more — not even if they're coming from google (where car article is the first wikipedia result) or from another article that will have the car linked correctly. --Qviri 11:12, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Result

[edit]

I can't complete this move because there was no consensus to move the existing Austin Healey, plus this verges on no consensus too

Tempted?

[edit]
Haldane HD100 (1994)

Might anyone be tempted to start an en-wiki entry on the Haldane which appears to have been an Austin-Healey replica produced by a Glaswegian? I confess I'd not heard of them till the weekend when I photographed one thinking I'd photographed an Austin-Healey. But that's not what it says on the nose on the badge. Helpfully for google-translate addicts, someone has already made a good start with a brief German language entry. Success Charles01 (talk) 08:58, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
