Flag[edit]

Why is the flag the Civil Ensign and not the normal Australian flag? Please @ me if somebody responds so I can engage in the conversation. HoHo3143 (talk) 08:56, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Will review this one. – Teratix 14:25, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not involved with this review or this article, but I was just wondering why the Australian Civil Ensign was used instead of the national flag? Idiosincrático (talk) 03:17, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OK, a first pass:

  • You accidentally overwrote the speed skating section with a duplicate of the figure skating section at some point, I think with this edit
    • I've attempted to fix this, but the two figure skating sections were slightly different and I wasn't sure which one you were intending to be used. Feel free to make follow-up changes.
  • The article heavily relies on statistical databases for sourcing at the expense of texts giving more background detail and analysis, like newspapers and books. It ends up being a bit insubstantial, to the point where the main Australia at the Winter Olympics article actually gives more information about the 1952 Games in some areas. I would want to see more information on the background of the Australian team and its operations in the lead-up to, and during, the Games, beyond just the raw statistics about their performance. You've already used a few Trove articles, I see, but there are more available: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] (not a comprehensive listing)
  • I also found [7] (from Wikibooks:User:Andjam/Australia Olympics errata overview) which gives some details about how the death of King George VI affected proceedings. It's not a "main aspect" so I wouldn't require it for GA status, but thought you might be interested.
  • As HoHo3143 and Idiosincrático have mentioned, it's unclear why the article uses the red ensign – I presume there is some reason?
  • the 13th overall Olympics that Australia had sent a delegation in → "sent a delegation to"
  • the best performing of the Aussies too informal
  • There's a bit to do here so I might follow up once you've had a shot at these initial queries. – Teratix 08:49, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Status query[edit]

Teratix, HawkAussie, where does this nomination stand? I don't see any evidence of work on the article since the above review was posted over a month ago. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:11, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article isn't yet at GA level so I'll close this as failed unless there's a follow-up soon. – Teratix 05:15, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Teratix Sorry to butt in but I think you should close it since it's been 2 months without a reply from the nominator. Arconning (talk) 14:33, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
