Episode 11 Challenge
[edit]Network 10 lists the challenge that occurred as an immunity challenge, not a reward challenge. (Source: https://tenplay.com.au/channel-ten/australian-survivor/extra/season-2/ep-11-smash-and-grab-immunity-challenge) Sinjoh2015 (talk) 15:17, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
Episodes section
[edit]Episodes 1-13 are missing summaries of gameplay information outside of challenges, and there are no entries at all for episodes 14-26 (though episodes 14 & 15 do show there were challenges that took place). Being from America, I have no way of viewing these episodes, so if someone could fix this by adding summaries, that'd be great. Thanks. 50.232.92.83 (talk) 16:07, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
Episode summaries
[edit]@Derekyoung418: WP:TVPLOT cap is 200 words and your Episode 1 summary is 612 words which is more than three times too big. Any summary is going to be a compromise, but there are other sites which can provide/contain a more comprehensive summary. I haven't seen the episode so won't add this in myself, in case I've made errors while compressing, but the following is 185 words and loses a bunch of details about the challenges but gets some of the politics in. It leaves (at this stage) 15 words to play with. Are there key missing details that need to be included, particularly when considering how things play out in future episodes? What can be reduced or cut as a trade off (the complete list of votes, perhaps)? Is there a more agile way of wording things?
- Reward challenge 1: Tribes move supplies ashore using a net. Samatau grabs a large bag of rice there, winning that and their supplies. Asaga keeps nothing.
- Reward challenge 2: Mark& Jacqui (Asaga) beat Tarzan & Adam (Samatau) in building a fire to burn through a rope, winning a lit torch and flint.
- Immunity challenge: Ten members from each tribe navigate an obstacle course and release bags of puzzle pieces for the remaining two members to solve a puzzle. Samatau wins.
- Samatau: Locky takes a leadership role. AK begins setting up alliances but offends Tara in talking strategy while she's vomiting.
- Asaga: Mark, who has much survival experience, is reluctant to take on a leadership role and be seen as a threat. Teammates identify losing Immunity Challenge puzzle solvers Kent (the oldest player) and Joan as likely to struggle in future. Samantha advocates splitting votes to prevent idol usage. Luke lobbies against Kent to weaken Samantha. At Tribal Council Joan (Henry, Jacqui, Kent, Mark, Samantha, and Sarah) ties with Kent (Ben, Joan, Jericho, Luke, Michelle, and Odette). On the revote, Ben and Jericho switch, eliminating Joan.

I truly do not believe that a 200 word cap is satisfactory for purposes of Survivor. And frankly, I have viewed other Survivor recaps on other Wikipedia pages and several of those recaps are more than 200 words. So, the rule does not appear to be uniformly enforced by everyone. You have to understand that Survivor is a very dynamic show. You're dealing with contestants that are constantly discussing strategy, the positives and negatives, people changing their minds. It can get very dynamic. And a short summary like the one you've written above does not get into the dynamics and the discussion. It's not like a drama or a comedy where the events are very centralized. I can easily write a 200 word summary for a drama or a comedy because of the way the episode progresses. Reality Television shows like Survivor, Big Brother, etc., do not follow that story plot. Sometimes, events from previous episodes carry over into the next one and if you don't have a build up to help someone understand what happened, they're not going to understand. Like the recap I proposed for Episode 2, every single one of those events is crucial not only to that episode, but to the next one and for several after that. It's impossible to take out any of those details in Episode 2 without taking out a huge plot hole that people might not understand. I think there needs to be further discussion on whether the 200 word cap is satisfactory for certain types of shows. As I said, so many things happen on Survivor that constantly change the plot of the episode midway, so you have to be able to explain that in a recap or people won't understand. I just ask that someone discuss this and see if this is acceptable. Derekyoung418 (talk) 11:15, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
Episode summaries, new section
[edit]Thanks to the user who has been adding episode summaries to provide more information about the season! I have noticed that episode summaries for other seasons generally are in past tense, and I would prefer it if this article followed suit, to keep it consistent all across the board. I hope this isn't an inconvenience to anyone. Thanks. 50.232.92.83 (talk) 17:17, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
