Untitled[edit]

The title of the article seems a little odd given that there was no ongoing WWI for Austria-Hungary to enter when it declared war on Serbia. I note that article does not describe how Austria-Hungary came to be at war with Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Japan, Portugal, etc. Perhaps move it to Austro-Hungarian declaration of war on Serbia? Negative. The proposed new title is all about one small fragment of the story told here--in which complex alliances are central. The current title is part of the series on Germany/Russia/France etc "entry into WWI". When did the WORLD war I start? No one ever declared a WORLD war, each country separately declared war on one of more enemies on different dates within a few days. So for example it was not yet a "world" war when Germany invaded Belgium. the title "world war" came later -- in 1914 every side called it the "Great War" -- There is no debate among the RS about the start or the name (the huge debate is about guilt) -- Compare WWII and Cold War whose start dates are controversial. Likewise the companion articles explain why Italy and USA did NOT enter the war in 1914 but did so later.Rjensen (talk) 00:08, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is a rare and excellent article. Sad that truth must be hidden in obscure headers due too political revisionism. The Fischer School dominates the abbreviated convenient variant of history where the German general staff is somehow to blame for the war ex post facto. The world had been turned upside down since 1904 and I believe that is where the article should begin. Change the name of the article[edit]

Austria-Hungary started the war by declaring war on Serbia, so why is this article called “Austria-Hungarian entry into WW1” when they were the first to declare war? 165.234.101.96 (talk) 16:22, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

WWI was an event involving many states. Each one entered the event at a point in time. A-H was "first" to enter--I cant see that as a problem. By August every country saw a war about to start and a lot of countries were poised to enter and did enter in a matter of a few days. Of course the AH declaration of war on Sebia instantly made Serbia ALSO the first to enter. Rjensen (talk) 14:01, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So why is it called “Austria Hungarian entry” than?

As you just stated Austria-Hungary and Serbia were the first participants in the war. Complex alliances or not, the title of this article is blatantly wrong in the fact Austria-Hungary was the First Nation to declare war. 165.234.101.98 (talk) 19:42, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
