Evidence of noteworthiness

[edit]

Here are some are som articles that makes it noteworthy. http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/keyDevelopments?symbol=ADSK.MU http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20091123-902965.html http://www.nyteknik.se/nyheter/it_telekom/allmant/article8849.ece http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20091030-907911.html

There are alot more if you bother to look. Erikhansson1 (talk) 15:17, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here are some more. http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-193598829.html http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-171237526.html http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P1-163023512.html Erikhansson1 (talk) 15:44, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well. The first one (reuters.com) is a press release from Autodesk, or perhaps from FM Systems. The second one is a press release from Autodesk. The third one is in Swedish, which isn't helpful for the vast majority of editors here. The fourth one is also a press release from Autodesk. The first highbeam.com one is also a press release from Autodesk. Press releases are not an indication of notability; I could write my own press release about how great I am, and highbeam.com would likely publish it if I put it on the right letterhead, but that wouldn't make me or a program I wrote "notable" in the way Wikipedia means it. --jpgordon::==( o ) 16:02, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding highbeam.com it's a search engine for published material where you can include/exclude press releases, books, journals news papers etc. You should try it. This makes it easier to find reliable sources. The source it self is noted on the referred page and it is not highbeam.com. Let me take an example, here is another highbeam link http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-155583389.html. Its published in Manila Bulletin and its not a press release, maybe there are some lobbying behind but that is the case in every other article published. There are a thousand stories like these. Where do you think the information about Photoshop comes from?
Furthermore, as stated in this press release http://www10.mcadcafe.com/nbc/articles/view_article.php?articleid=249135&interstitial_displayed=Yes Inventor is the dominating brand in 3D CAD packages with more seats than Pro/ENGINEER, SolidEdge, SolidWorks and Catia. A more reliable source on marketshare is http://www.jonpeddie.com/publications/cad_report/ but it is not free. My opinion is that the market leaders should be covered by Wikipedia.

No doubt that Autodesk Inventor is notable. The problem I see is a complete lack of references from WP:RS. I mean, seriously now, a list of releases with internal code names? Anyone guess where that came from? This article is close to the threshold of being spam. 68.106.251.57 (talk) 15:54, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
