Merge?
[edit]I'm thinking this sould be merged with he AEA article. --70.48.219.198 07:12, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

No, I disagree. There is plenty of information in Hazelwood to merit a separate entry. While AEA is a practice, autoerotic fatalities have psychological, forensic, legal, etc. contexts. Here are the chapter titles, to demonstrate:
- Autoeroticism and the Public Visibility of Autoerotic Asphyxia
- Recurrent Discovery of Autoerotic Asphyxia
- Study Design and Sample Characteristics
- Asphyxial Autoerotic Fatalities
- Autoerotic Asphyxia, the Paraphilias, and Mental Disorder
- Atypical Autoerotic Fatalities
- Investigation of Autoerotic Fatalities
- Equivocal Deaths: Accident, Suicide, or Homicide?
- Judicial Decisions Regarding Insurance Benefits in Autoerotic Fatalities
The book is also more than a thorough literature review; Hazelwood is an FBI agent, and the book also includes a study of 157 sample cases submitted to the FBI Behavioral Science Unit at the FBI Academy. All in all, I think this entry and the entry on AEA need to have coordinated changes, since they are closely related, albeit different topics. Timocrates 17:32, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Hanging wankers
[edit]Amzed how fast and petty the removal of the reference to Hanging Wankers was: this was a foolish edit. This is a well know phrase used by UK police and coroners and seems entirely appropriate and useful.
Picture
[edit]Is the drawing of a man hanging by his own genetalia remotely appropriate for wikipedia? Reyemile (talk) 20:19, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is NOT censored, this is not even a photography. I think this picture is far from being offensive and there is much much worse content on various wikipedia's articles, for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Fellatio-auto.jpg and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Autofellatio3.jpg (no need to warn you that clicking on these links will direct you to visual materials of a very sexually-explicit nature, beware...) try the talk page also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Autofellatio 13:20, 8 June 2009 (GMT)
- Not surprised by being uncensored--rather, I'm commenting on the fact that it adds nothing to the article. It's a political cartoon, not an illustration of any content; it's unreferenced by the article, and anatomically impossible. Obscenity of the picture notwithstanding, I'm looking for a justification for its inclusion in an encyclopedia Reyemile (talk) 19:55, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- Is it justified to have a picture of the subject matter; it is relevant and improves the article by illustrating it. What makes you claim it is anatomically impossible for a man to hang himself by his neck and genitals? It does happen. Correct & improve (talk) 03:07, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- He's hanging himself WITH his genitals, not from them--his four foot penis is wrapped around his own neck. An anatomically impossible cartoon. I'm giving it a week, and if no one has justified the picture's existence, I'm deleting it.Reyemile (talk) 04:25, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- I was going to comment on missing what was sure to be a Best Of... moment, then I remembered Wikipedia's handy History function and discovered that the image itself is still intact. Perhaps it'd be good for... a... caricature or... something? *stifles laughter* Hey, you in the back, pipe down! This is serious business! XD Orethrius (talk) 14:49, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
The death of Gareth Williams
[edit]Could the death of Gareth Williams potentially be an autoerotic death, he was found naked in a bag locked from the outside, and the police say it’s not foul play. 75.139.2.180 (talk) 03:33, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
Disputed: The inclusion of David Carradine in this article is unsupported by the sources.
[edit]Greetings.
Several of the assertions in the paragraph are either unsupported by the sources, or lack sources, which makes the inclusion of David Carradine in this article unsupported.
-"there was evidence of a recent orgasm" is incorrect, the Fox article says, ""The two ropes were tied together," he [Lt. Gen. Chewprecha] said. "It is unclear whether he committed suicide or not or he died of suffocation or heart failure due to an orgasm."
-"two autopsies were conducted and concluded that his death was not suicide, and the Thai forensic pathologist who examined the body stated that his death may have been due to autoerotic asphyxiation" is incorrect, as Dr. Porntip Rojanasunan, who expressed that opinion, did not participate in the investigation, and, as the Fox article states: "Dr. Nanthana Sirisap, director of Chulalongkorn Hospital's Autopsy Center, told reporters that the autopsy was conducted because of the "unusual circumstances surrounding Carradine's death," but he [i.e. she] did not elaborate." The autopsy was conducted at that hospital.
-"Two of Carradine's ex-wives, Gail Jensen and Marina Anderson, stated publicly that his sexual interests included the practice of self-bondage," is irrelevant, as the ladies were not part of any investigation.
Thai police never released the results of the investigation.[1][2]
Therefore, unless the final forensic report of the Thai police is found and cited, or there is a news article by a reliable source in which an officer of the Royal Thai Police identified by name and rank clearly states the manner of death as AEA, this paragraph is unsupported by the sources.
