WikiProject Companies To-do:

Here are some tasks awaiting attention:

WP:CORPDEPTH

[edit]

Keep: AusLondonder has proposed the article be deleted due to lack of significant coverage. Based on a quick Google search, however, I can find the following references:

  • A profile on the company's acquisition of PKF O'Connor in the Irish Independent (see here)
  • A profile on the company's acquisition of Baker Tilly in The Irish Times (see here)
  • A profile in The Scotsman describing the company as a Top 10 firm (see here)
  • A profile in Accountancy Daily describing the company as "the fastest growing accountancy firm in the UK" (see here)
  • A profile in the Herald describing the company acquiring the oldest accounting firm in Scotland (see here)
  • An announcement of PAI investment in the Financial Times (see here)
  • Discussion of the same investment round in Sky News (see here)
  • Passing reference to the company acquiring "more than 90 firms in six years" in the Financial Times (see here)
  • Rankings of it in Accountancy Age (see here)
  • Rankings of it in Accountancy Today (see here)

Within WP:ORGTRIV I would note that "Significant coverage in media with an international, national, or at least regional audience (e.g., the biggest daily newspaper in any US state) is a strong indication of notability." Given I can find references within multiple national and international publications, not merely referencing the company in passing but writing headlines about it, this seems a strong indication of notability. The are many more references within regional publications.

I admit, as written, the article needs a lot of work. However, in the words of WP:MAKESTUBS: "Instead of letting that red link sit there doing nothing: Make it a stub!" The above, hopefully, provides people with a useful starting point and with, "Enough information to make it clear what the subject of the article is and for other editors to expand upon it."

Finally, I would cite WP:OBSCURE. In this essay, it is argued that Toxic Narcotic is notable notwithstanding that it is an obscure band "which is only of interest to a small number of hardcore punk fans." It is also a stub with just seven links. I would suggest that a firm which Sky News note claims to be the, " largest provider of business-critical services such as accounting work, payroll and tax to small and medium-sized businesses in northern Europe" is at least equally notable to an obscure American crust punk band from Boston, Massachusetts. I accept that an article on any accountancy firm is unlikely to be of interest to a general audience, however, WP:NOBODYREADSIT applies. Nyctimene (talk) 21:42, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

One final point, WikiProject Companies categorised Campbell Dallas as of mid importance (see here). Campbell Dallas was acquired by Azets in 2017. Azets must, therefore, be at least of mid importance assuming the Campbell Dallas article was properly categorised. This is something pointed out within the project's requested articles section:
"Azets Large Top 10 accounting firm in the United Kingdom formed from a number of smaller firms one of which - Campbell_Dallas- included as a page already and should perhaps replace that one." Nyctimene (talk) 22:32, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

I propose merging Campbell Dallas into Azets given Azets has since acquired the firm. Nyctimene (talk) 22:38, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
