Why did the DWI source

Get deleted. I heard the story and that was the link to it. Soxrock 17:59, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First game in 2006

[edit]

I don't recall Upton being booed or otherwise getting an overly negative reaction following his 2006 callup, as the article indicates. Also, that game wasn't his first ever in the Majors, so why is it particularly notable enough to mention his performance in it vs. other games? -Sliver7 03:12, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yea I remember hearing about his first game, which I believe was in 2004. If I'm not mistaken, he went 1 for 3 with a walk, single, and k. I payed a little attention to it because I had played against him the year before in high school... -Coastalsteve984 27 July 2007

HuH? from the text... Upton was drafted second overall in the 2002, he was kept in the minor leagues until 2007.

He made his major league debut on August 2, 2004... What is it 2007 or 2004??? Confused.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.222.231.78 (talk) 21:44, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name misspelled

[edit]

Am I seriously the only one who has noticed that his name is misspelled? 75.161.231.103 (talk) 20:06, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article name

[edit]

It's time to start discussing the name of this article. He has gone by "B. J. Upton" for his whole career, but now wants to go by "Melvin Upton, Jr." Should this page be moved? – Muboshgu (talk) 03:43, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A similar case I can think of is Ron Artest changing his name to Metta World Peace (and correspondingly, his article was moved to his new name after he announced the name change). Of course, that involved Artest legally changing his name, whereas in Upton's case, he's dropping a nickname and wants to be known by what always had been his legal name. It's not 100% his legal name. His father is "Manny", so he's not a "Jr.". And he hasn't announced it yet, but apparently he will discuss it with reporters when he reports to camp (in a few days). – Muboshgu (talk) 13:17, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
