[edit]

Dear "I am one of many"

Good afternoon,

I am trying to update the information regarding BAIF Development Research Foundation. BAIF is an non-profit organisation based out of India working on rural poverty since 1967. Our website is www.baif.org.in were you could get further details. Now when we see our Wikipedia page a lot of information is either not there or is outdated and that is what we are trying to fix and update. I have been authorized by my organisation to do the changes. So kindly allow us to do so.

  • I think that you misunderstand what Wikipedia is about. It is an encyclopedia that summarizes notable knowledge. It is not a place to promote an organization, idea or anything else. BAIF looks to me to be notable, but that is only the first step in creating an article within policy on Wikipedia. First, you cannot copy and paste material from your website (see WP:COPYVIO). That means, for example, that you cannot just use material on the BAIF website as the source for the information added to the article. Acceptable sources can be, for example, newspaper articles or scholarly articles (see WP:RELIABLE). Third, there can be no original research (see WP:OR). Fourth, the article must be written neutrally (see WP:NPOV). Fifth, since you are writing for the organization, you do have a conflict of interest (see WP:CONFLICT). I strongly suggest that you read all of the links provided and first discuss on the article talk page how you propose to change the article based on reliable sources. Failure to do so will lead to further reversions of content and possibly even being blocked from editing. So, my best advice is to become familiar with Wikipedia policies before you do any further editing. I am One of Many (talk) 17:33, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. I do understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. I would like to inform you that we are not promoting our organisation. We are just trying to share with the wikipedia community what BAIF is all about. Most of the information present there is outdated and redundant. At the same time we are not copy pasting any material from our website. The website link is for your reference. We are a not-for-profit organisation working for the poor communities of India. Idea is to share our development experience through wikipedia for the greater good of humankind. Our development models and initiatives are being adopted and replicated by World Bank, UN, and government agencies. We have over 50 years of rural development experience. So Please let me know how do we go about it. At present the information shared by you on the page is outdated and incomplete. We want to enrich the article so that it helps other readers of wikipedia in their research etc. We are trying to follow all the guidelines to our level best. You could reach us at +91 020 25231661/ +919423177597/ +91 9767500741. Kindly let us know how to go about it. Please help us out. Thank you. 117.195.60.104 (talk) 04:56, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Everyone here is a volunteer. It really isn't difficult to follow policy. For example, this looks like a reliable source for writing an article. Approach writing as though you had never heard of BAIF and you are trying to write an encyclopedia article based only on such sources. Here are some other possible sources: [1], [2], [3]. Whatever you do, don't copy and past. Neutrally summarize the content.I am One of Many (talk) 05:42, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. We will keep in mind the sources shared by you while writing the article. But what i feel is that all this could be a secondary sources of information. What should we do for primary information pertaining to facts and figures of the organisation, its reach, its thematic interventions etc. How do we add that ? Could our own publications, annual reports be a source? Ks.baif (talk) 04:50, 14 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To all of you,

We are writing an article about BAIF to give the people an idea of what BAIF is all about. The article gives a glimpse of what BAIF is to the wikipedia community and to the people who use it from research. Now when people who seriously research for something on wikipedia, i think we should give them the correct and accurate information. And thats why we are writing this aticle. Please don't revert back to earlier versions which neither reflects BAIF in proper light nor does it gives in factual and genuine information. 117.195.57.138 (talk) 09:18, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Copy/paste of advertising/marketing material from the BAIF website is not how one writes and encyclopedia. Millahnna (talk) 18:30, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Article expansion

[edit]

I have significantly expanded the article in recent weeks. Let me know if anything else needs to be added here. You can briefly outline what is lacking, and then I can source inormation on that topic and add it. Of course everyone can add content as long as it is supported by independent reliable source. Thanks. Jonathansammy (talk) 01:51, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Reassessment

[edit]

I have reassessed the article. The prose and text are good enough for C-class, but the article needs an infobox for C-class. I have also removed the stub templates from the article. Further expansion with references could be substantial for the development towards B-class. Note that I have removed the article from the reassessment page. Images

[edit]

I have significanty expanded this article but it lacks images. It would be good if photographs of activities undertaken by BAIF are uploaded on Creative Commons. The images have to be your own work rather than copyright images.Thanks. Jonathansammy (talk) 18:21, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
