BBC2's Window on the World idents have now gone

[edit]

Duncan Newmarch at TV Forum has confirmed that Window on the World idents have gone forever, you can find the source of you want to add to the article :)

November 2014?

[edit]

I have noticed that on the article (and here on the talk page), it states that the set of idents were allegedly discontinued in November 2014; a post from TV Forum is used as a source. Below is a link to the referenced post as well as a copy of it in case it miraculously disappears.

"Duncan Newmarch (continuity announcer) confirmed on here that it's the 2011 set again.
Further confirmation that the windows are gone forever though and as such somebody should really be getting round to amending that trail style and *broken record*"

This quote from a user named 'Jonny' has been misquoted. The article and the talk page message above this one insinuate that Duncan Newmarch, a continuity announcer working for the BBC, confirmed that the 'Windows on the World' package had been discontinued. That is not the case, rather Jonny was saying that Newmarch confirmed that that years Christmas presentation was going to be the same as the previous years. As for the sentence starting with "further confirmation", 'further confirmation' is a phrase. If it was a claim, it would have been a dubious one at that.

Alas, the true date for the defunction of the 'Windows on the World' package is unknown, or at the very least unspecific - a few posts down, a user called 'kernow' mentioned that he spotted the Seascape ident being used on either BBC Two Wales or BBC Two Northern Ireland prior to posting, meaning that November 13th, 2014 isn't an accurate date. -- EpicPrime (leave a message | edits) 18:03, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
