Tumor Suppressor or Oncogene?

[edit]

A recent edit put this page in the category of "oncogenes", but it's not clear to me whether BCL10 is an oncogene or a tumor suppressor. [1] leans towards calling it a tumor suppressor gene, and since this page says it encourages apoptosis, I would think it's a tumor suppressor.

Am I missing something, or should this be recategorized? Myoglobin (talk) 17:44, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I thought that oncogenes encompassed tumor suppressor genes and proto-oncogenes, which have opposite effects (and when either are mutated, they are then oncogenes). If I'm incorrect, go ahead and revert. Natureium (talk) 17:45, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'll revert since tumor-suppressors are sometimes called anti-oncogenes. Thank you though for bringing up the classification idea; I am relatively new to WP so I am unfamiliar with creating classifications. If there is a tumor suppressor category perhaps this could go into it. Myoglobin (talk) 17:51, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
