Controversy

[edit]

All of of the claims in the Controversy section are dubious and/or unsourced.

  • Was BG the company using the Deepwater Horizon rig? I thought this was BP. The cited reference gives no support, and the Deepwater Horizon article does not mention BG.
  • No citation is provided for BG involvement in the Texas City Refinery explosion, and the Wikipedia article does not mention BG.
  • The cited reference does not mention any involvement of BG in tar sands.
  • The cited reference does not mention any involvement of BG in Angola or Columbia.

I propose deleting this section. Verbcatcher (talk) 16:04, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Verbcatcher:The reference does mention the BG Group, but the editor seems to have mistakenly added the information for BP. I've corrected the section to reflect the information provided by the source. The source's publisher is RepRisk, not sure how reliable they, there is an article about them sitting in AfC Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/RepRisk.
As a side note Deepwater was leased to BP but owned and operated by Transocean with contractors from Halliburton (at least that's what I understand fromt he wiki article). Jonpatterns (talk) 19:03, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, the editor posted material that related to BP, not to BG. Thank you for updating the article. Verbcatcher (talk) 00:53, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
