Special Category for British Motorcycles[edit]

As part of the Motorcycling WikProject I am working though all the missing articles and stubs for British Bikes. To make things easier to sort out there is a special Category:British motorcycles Please add to any British motorcycle pages you find or create. It will also help to keep things organised if you use the Template:Infobox Motorcycle or add it where it is missing. I've linked the Category to the Commons Motorcycles of Britain so you could help with matching pics to articles or adding the missing images to the Commons. Articles should be categorized as per Wikipedia:Categorization. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 20:56, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merger[edit]

I think it might be a good idea to merge all the articles on the BSA unit construction parallel-twins. This would mean merging BSA A65 Rocket with BSA A65 Star and BSA Royal Star and BSA Lightning Rocket. Any views? Arrivisto (talk) 22:58, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Four years later! Yes, I agree. The only current reference on WP to the later A65 bikes appears to be on List of BSA motorcycles. Arrivisto (talk) 18:09, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't it be better to create an umbrella article? Although some of those mentioned above are short, considering all (together with BSA Spitfire and BSA Lightning Clubman) having infoboxes would result in a cluttered, lengthy article.

Was there a proposal some time ago to create such an umbrella article? Or was the proposal for A7/A10 variants?--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 00:49, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm rather busy at the moment, but I hope soon to have a stab at doing this. Arrivisto (talk) 13:24, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK, plenty time. I'll add it to my list - actually I added it long ago - I have a 1965 Lightning Clubman TT Marshal's semi-test with I think a bit of unit history in it. And an A50/A65 strip, similar date. About the same for pre-unit, Rocket Goldie test at least, reprinted in Walnecks.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 05:25, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
