"Confirmed batchelors" were homosexuals? I think this usage of the phrase is of recent coinage and wouldn't have been understood in the early 20th century. Drutt (talk) 12:03, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your citation says '...Dover Street was the street of new clubs in the 1920s and 30s. So here Wodehouse found the ideal site for the fictional Drones Club, originally based on the real Bachelors' Club, but subsequently the source of the Drones was transferred to Buck's Club.'

Does this mean that the Bachelors' Club was in Dover Street? If not, where was it? And are there no more anecdotes about what went on there? Valetude (talk) 18:20, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
