1970s articles about bactoprenol related to mesosome[edit]

This page cites articles from the early 1970s about the relationship between bactoprenol an mesosomes. As I wasn't aware of what a mesosome is, I linked to the mesosome and opened its WP page. It seems that the scientific understanding of mesosomes has greatly altered since the early 1970s. I wonder whether this page's information about bactoprenol in relationship to mesosomes is still the current scientific consensus, as this page is based on work published in the early 1970s.

Inconsistent CAS RN[edit]

The given CAS RN is not consistent with CAS Commons Chemistry, which lists a different stereochemistry, resulting in the BNAIICFZMLQZKW-LSTWDCEHSA-N InChIKey, which does not match the InChI/SMILES on this page. --Egon Willighagen (talk) 20:52, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Boghog: The chembox (incl. the CAS RN) was added by you many years ago. Could you please have a look? --Leyo 21:21, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the heads up. Egon is correct. The structure as currently drawn was taken from PubChem and I can confirm that the stereochemistry of listed by PubChem and CAS differ:
PubChem (6449977): 6E,10E,14E,18E,22E,26E,30E,34E,38E
CAS (12777-41-26): 6Z,10Z,14Z,18Z,22Z,26Z,30Z,34E,38E
I assume that CAS has the right structure (or at the very least, the structure that corresponds to CAS 12777-41-26). The structure as currently drawn is completely "Z" or "trans" and corresponds to CAS 88929-44-6. I will correct the structure so that it is consistent with CAS 12777-41-26.  Done I have corrected the structure, IUPAC, SMILES, InChI, ChemSpider and PubChem links. I also added a source that confirms the CAS stereochemical assignment. Boghog (talk) 07:44, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
