Geo Coordinates

[edit]

I changed the Geo in the metadata tag from 30°44′N 70°29′E / 30.733°N 70.483°E / 30.733; 70.483 to 30°44′N 79°29′E / 30.733°N 79.483°E / 30.733; 79.483 because I stumbled upon this wiki tag near Tanusa city in Punjab,Pakistan in Google Earth. But yet I could not fix one problem that is when you look at the coordinates in the top right corner of the web page you will see to sets of coordinates one on top of each other, will you please fix this? -Timir Patel Feb 15th 2007

MZMcBride fixed the problem with being able to read the coordinates. I've used his fix on a few other pages as well. If you see any more that need fixing, let me know. cheers, ॐ Priyanath talk 21:25, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Badrinathpuri

[edit]

Is Badrinathpuri same as Badrinath? If it is, then the information there has to be merged into this article. ~ srini 15:30, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I guess they are both the same, as this news article shows: http://www.tribuneindia.com/1999/99sep25/head6.htm Balajiviswanathan 20:12, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

With confirmation from User:Balajiviswanathan and User:Musicshop13 at Talk:Badrinathpuri, I have completed the merge operation. -srini 11:32, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to Badrinath article

[edit]

Feel free to discuss changes that I've made to the article, and my explanation of them. With the recent split of Badrinath into Badrinath (town) and Badrinath temple, there were parts of the temple article that should have stayed in the Badrinath town article.

I moved the stories, history, and legends of Badrinath and the Badrinath region from the temple article to the town article. The temple article should have only what pertains specifically to the temple: the temple, the temple complex, and temple worship.

In addition, I've added a small section in the Badrinath article about the temple - because Badrinath temple is by far the most significant and visited feature in the town. Any significant feature in a town needs a section in that town's article about that feature. But Badrinath temple is still the main article about the temple. The new temple section here is small, but I think it should be a bit larger to reflect the importance of the temple to the town. I also added a tag at the beginning of the Badrinath temple section pointing to the main temple article thus:

.

Additionally, both articles need good references. I hope to come up with some in the next couple of weeks. If you have any, please add them, thanks. ॐ Priyanath 03:35, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mistaken directions

[edit]

"To drive here you would first have to go the town of Govardhana. From there you go to the town of Dig. It is about 15km from Dig to Badrinath." Unless this is an astonishing coincidence, the above directions are for the Badrinath (or Adi Badri) located at Vraja in Uttar Pradesh, not the "original" Badrinath. To go to Adi Badri near Vrindavana, the above is accurate. --Raga 17:30, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:INDIA Banner/Uttarakhand workgroup Addition

[edit]

Note: {{WP India}} Project Banner with Uttarakhand workgroup parameters was added to this article talk page because the article falls under Category:Uttarakhand or its subcategories. Should you feel this addition is inappropriate , please undo my changes and update/remove the relavent categories to the article -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 13:17, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Transport

[edit]

Transport The nearest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport near Dehradun, (317 km). The nearest railway stations are at Haridwar (310 km) and Rishikesh(297 km) and Kotdwar, (327 km) respectively. There are regular buses operating to Badrinath, from New Delhi, Haridwar and Rishikesh. As the roads are very narrow, for your safety it is recommended to travel by all terrain vehicles. Until recently you could not drive here, but now you can drive right up next to the temple. - What is the source of information... I visited Badrinath in June 1990 and we drove all the way to the temple...Please get the facts right —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.31.252.120 (talk) 06:00, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Directions"

[edit]

And the rest of the travelogue section belong at https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Badrinath. It's fine to link to it from here in the external links; it's not ok to turn this page into a tour guide. [Some of the offending content removed there. More probably needs to be shunted as well.] — LlywelynII 15:49, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
