BAGRI IS A BIG LANGUAGE SPOKEN IN LARGE AREAS INCLUDING SOUTHREN HARYANA, NORTHEN RAJASTHAN, SOUTH OF PAKISTANI PUNJAB AND SINDH. BUNGARU IS SPOKEN IN UPPER PARTS OF HARYANA. BANGARU HAS SIMILARITIES WITH BAGRI, MIGHT IT BE SOME ACCENT OF BAGRI BUT BANGARU MIGHT BE DEEMINGLY INFLUENCED BY PUNJABI.. MIGHT IT BE SOME ANTITHESIS OF BAGRI AND PUNJABI.


*OTHER OPINION: Rajasthani is one of the prominent members of Indo-Aryan languages family. It is spoken by around eighty million persons (total number of speakers 36 million as per Census of India, 2001) in Rajasthan and other states of India, and has eight major dialects: Bagri, Shekhawati, Mewati, Dhundhari, Harauti, Marwari, Mewari, and Wagri. Most of these dialects of Rajasthani are chiefly spoken in the state of Rajasthan but also in Gujarat, Haryana and Punjab. Besides, Rajasthani is spoken in some parts of western Madhya Pradesh, and the Pakistani provinces of Punjab and Sind. Rajasthani language is classified in the Central Zone of the Indo-Aryan languages, which also includes Hindi and Urdu. Some of the dialects of Rajasthani are considered by some to be dialects of Hindi; however, many linguists agree that Rajasthani is a different language from Hindi at phonological, morphological, syntactical and lexical levels.

Banagaru is also known as Bagri in southern Punjab and northern Haryana. There it certainly has more affinity with Punjabi and is considered a trasitional dialect by linguists and has been ever since the study of linguistics began. Where as the Bagri of Nohar, Bhadra, Rawatsar, Ellenabad etc. is a transitional dialect of Marwari/Rajasthani. Bangar or Baggar was an area of wild shrubs and trees stretching towards the south of Ghaggar and Tangri in medieval times hence the name of the dialect. But as we move westward towards the thar desert Bagri merges with Marwari and is more akin with Rajasthatni. Based on these sources (har1, har2, har3, har4, A Rose), please go ahead and create the articles for the additional language/dialects of Haryana:
  1. Banagaru or Bangru (Hariani, Census of India: Paper - Issue 1 - Page 73), main and proper dialect of Haryanvi. Mainly spoken by Des (later arrival) people (Des are later arival after Chalisa famine in late 18th century, Deswal are original inhabitants at least since 13th/14th century or earlier) living in bangar area (source: ban1)
  2. Deswali (dialect) or Hariani (source: census of India 1961, in Hisar, Sirsa and Bhiwani it is called Deshwali, or Deshari; in Rohtak and Sonepat it is usually called Jatu; ), a dialect spoken in Deswal (region) (in central Haryana, such as Rohtak, Sonipat, Jhajjar, parts of Jind and even Hisar, sources: gaz1, deswal and bagri belts, reg1, deswal belt2, deswal belt 3, ) by Deswali (people) such as Deswal gotra of jats
  3. Khadar (dialect), which areas actually where it is majority dialect of Haryanvi?

Bagri vs Bawri Language[edit]

Respected sirs,Bagri and Bawri are totally seperate and unique language.Redirect made to Bawri language as Bagri language is totally wrong.Once user pointed out Bawri language is not recognised by govt. of India.It does not make sense since india is nation of many major and minor languages.Bawri language is also one of those minor language.The speakers of this language are mostly marginalised in terms of education etc.so i request to respected wikipedian let me allow to write article as BAWRI LANGUAGE and put light on this hidden language.it is totally different with Bagri in terms of vocabulary and grammar.It is spoken by Sikhs where as Bagri is spoken by HINDUS.
