Which hoax ???

http://www.repubblica.it/esteri/2010/09/12/news/balconing_ibiza-7003343/

Anoher guy dead. It has happened 3 times in few days. Before tell i am a liar, just go and get informed,ok ? Search allover spanish newspapers for the account of the people dead or injured already this summer. I don't know why some moderators here dare to insult editors without knowning anything about an issue. That's really bad to call somebody a liar or a crook. Moreover, there is already a page with the same name in spanish wikipedia, so please spend little of your time before attacking other users, Thanks Paul —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxcrc (talkcontribs) 20:43, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Sir, I am not a moderator. I am a regular user, just like you, with access to the same tools, attempting to maintain the integrity of the Wikipedia Project. In case you don't understand what I said earlier, on your talk page, we at the English Wikipedia do not necessarily speak any other language, nor is it anyone's responsibility to be able to. For that reason, I can not get informed, as I can not interpret any written evidence as to it's factuality, and can not assume it is true. Video evidence of the "sport" occurring is not sufficient to prove from an unbiased point of view the factuality or statistics you claim to be true. If you think I am being unreasonable, please, by all means, file for Dispute Resolution and we will be arbitrated by a third party. I am (still) attempting to be civil and professional with this issue, and I would appreciate it if you would kindly rescind the personal attack you left on my talk page.

Thank you. -Pavel (Paul) (talk) 21:32, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

--- Unbiased sources ? La Repubblica is one of the most read newspaper IN THE WORLD Call a user a crook, a liar only because he creates an article well sourced and referenced, it something unacceptable and cannot be tollerated. I saw you have done it many times with different users, accusing users of vandalism and insult them without reasons. I am surprised you have not been banned yet —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxcrc (talkcontribs) 06:19, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

This is what you call an unbiased source:

repubblica.it

The 306th most visited website in the world, the most read newspaper of Italy (number 10th nationally most visited website) and the top10 most read newspaper in Europe.

This is the wikipedia voice in spanish

http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balconing

I just wished to translate it and create one into english, and instead only to be find you insulting me, calling the page a hoax, calling me a liar ,call one of the world most read newspaper an unbiased source and urge me to stop creating innapropiate pages with your warnings and insults in my talk page calling me a vandal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Maxcrc

I accept the definition of sport is really questionable , this madness is not a sport, but it is a fact anyway, so the page has a reason to exist.Or if it looks a triviality ,at least ask for its deletion for being a trivility, not by false accusation against the user of being a crook and a liar. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxcrc (talkcontribs) 06:38, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/aug/11/spanish-authorities-balconies-holidaymakers-warning

Also, The Guardian is an unbiased source. I notice your obsession in deleting this page by any mean is having no success and your requests have not been answered. Maxcrc (talk) 06:59, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

"we at the English Wikipedia do not necessarily speak any other language, nor is it anyone's responsibility to be able to. For that reason, I can not get informed, as I can not interpret any written evidence as to it's factuality, and can not assume it is true."

It is your responsability to check the source, before insulting users and call them crooks or using definitions like "a pure vandalism and a blatant hoax" If you are uncapable of doing this job, let other people do it, rather than slandering, insulting users for no reasons, other than your obsession in showing power and your incompetence to check a source. Your phrase is very offensive , since it looks your are 100% certain I am a crook and a vandal, despite having placed as sources one of most read newspaper in the planet. How can you call a source "blatant hoax" if you are unable to understand what it says ?

The not verified sources you say are : The Guardian (one of the most read newspapers in UK), La Repubblica (the most read online newspaper of Italy) and El Mundo (the most read newspaper of Spain),3 different languages.

if you spent just 0.09 seconds of your time, by googling balconing, these would have been the results

http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=balconing&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=d1fbe4ebbd01a4ef About 620,000 results (0.09 seconds)

My suggestion: before calling users crooks and liars, spend 0.1 second of your time, it is worth it , believe me .Cheers Maxcrc (talk) 13:57, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

You got it.

I'd be tempted to rename this "balcony jumping". The Spanish press are obsessed with inventing pseudo-English -ing words not used in English. Most English-speaking people wouldn't have a clue what "balconing" means. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 105.232.52.77 (talk) 11:20, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Rename, delete?

This is an interesting one, notability is questionable. It's clear that 'balconing' is not a word used by the people who are actually engaged in the practice, it's not used by any anglophones at all and I'd be surprised if any Germans knew it. There are always idiots who'll jump from a balcony into a pool, and they often come a cropper. I wouldn't call it an activity though, there is very little evidence of transmission from one jumper to the next, there is no identifiable "culture" of balcony jumping. The "balconing" name seems to have been invented by Spaniards in the late noughties, maybe even 2010, and caught on in a silly season "moral panic" in the Spanish press (see also "mamading").

I propose this article is deleted for lack of notability or renamed "balcony jumping".
