Mason jars still in production!

Someone at the beginning of the article said that Ball no longer makes canning jars. This is not true as they are still selling BALL brand mason jars in supermarkets in bulk 12 per package deals.

Actually, this is true: Ball no longer makes the canning jars. However, you are right that you can still buy them because they licensed another company to make the jars under their name. I don't know the name of the other company though. Perhaps someone could look at the store and see if it gives another company name? MECUtalk 15:32, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
I do believe Alltrista (or something along those lines) now owns the mason jars division. I just read the article for Ball again. "In 1993, Ball spun off part of its glass business to Alltrista Co." And there is also this "In 1996, Ball spun off its glass container business to Ball-Foster Glass Container Co. and exited the glass business." So technically although the jars are still in production, Ball itself no longer produces them, and the line was accurate as it stood. Feedloadr 13:34, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Alltrista is now Jarden Corporation, but they have retained the license to use the Ball trademark on the jars it sells, but the Ball Corporation doesn't manufacture them any longer. Rosalina523 (talk) 20:03, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

Disappointing redirect

I got redirected from Ball Brothers, and I'm a bit disappointed. So saying, I'm announcing my intent to, within the next month, create articles on all five of the original brothers and flesh this article out to make it better conform to Wikipedia. If anyone has any questions or objections, please leave me a message here or on my talk page. Thank you! --Vortex 17:43, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

I was a little surprised to see that redirect as well. There are significant ties between articles (eg. Ball State University) that a separate Ball Brothers article would make. However, I would strongly prefer to have only a single article that covers all of Ball Brothers, not 5 separate articles, unless there really is a substantial amount of text, or they are separately really notable. --Interiot 18:09, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
We meet again! :) Small Wiki, eh? Anyways, the thing is that each brother was unique individually and as a whole they also did fascinating things for the city proper. It's hard to relegate it to one single article because of differences in the styles, attitudes, and accomplishments of the brothers. For example, Lucius became a physician at the age of 40 -- but only after the rest of his family was already established in business. Edmund was the humanitarian of the group, Frank the leader, and George the guy who would make sure things got finished. I'll mull it over, though, and give the matter some thought. Right now I'm engrossed in rewriting the Ball State University article -- see my mainpage for the link to the rewrite. ^_^ --Vortex 19:16, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
It sounds like you might have more than 1 paragraph for each of them? If so, go for it, they can always be split or merged later, as needed. --Interiot 19:25, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
Probably a lot more than a single para. I just have to get the necessary books from the library and I'd be set. For now, though, this book on the history of BSU is going to tie me down for a few days. :) --Vortex 22:42, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

The Ball Brothers article, updated in 2016, has several additional paragraphs on each one of the brothers. Detailed history of the corporate history remain in the Ball Corporation article. Rosalina523 (talk) 18:04, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
